      Question Wild question

When you relax your body do you have to make it completely numb? Like sometimes I would just concentrate on my breathing and my whole body would go numb, is it supposed to go numb?

Also, does that mean my body is asleep? I do feels my muscles twitch a lot too.

It goes numb for me too, so I say yes. I think it means that you're really close to, if not, already in SP. But that's just what I think.

Usually your body will go completely numb and feel extremely heavy when in full SP. It is a gradual stage usually so if you dont think you are 'done' you probably aren't.

Sounds to me like you were close to SP but not quite there yet. My muscles usually stop twitching long before SP sets in. There are different levels of SP so dont get to hung up on it. Its not necessary to wild. The only thing necessary is to fall asleep.

I have another question, do you have to be tired/sleepy to WILD?

      Thanks for the answers.

I have one more question along with that..

Do you have to fall asleep or do you have to pay attention to the HI and that will eventually get you into your dream, then you will know when to enter your dream, etc.

Yes it is supposed to go numb. Part of SP.

Well no matter what you are falling asleep. Alot of people have so much trouble with WILDs because they get hung up on magic HI or SP that supposedly has to set it off.

Yes it is a common symptom, yes I experience both on a near nightly basis. But I have most defiantly had a WILD without either. They are both in a way just assistants. I've had a full out WILD transition in pitch black with the lightest of tingling.

You need to be in the right state of mind to WILD (Doing a WBTB usually helps you get there.) Being tired usually isn't the best stage to be in because its hard to remain conscious. But just remember the following.

      • You are trying to fall asleep and dream - NOT lay in bed like a brick waiting for flashy lights and SP. Yes you make a conscious transition; but you still need to fall asleep. (WILD's can happen in 5 minutes if you are ready for it)
      • You simply want to passively remain conscious and observant throughout this phase - Do not rush yourself and Do not let your mind wander to far.
      • Dont get ahead of yourself; WILDing can take a long time. Just take baby steps for now and try to work on finding the in between stage in Wakefullness and Sleep. You need to train your mind to stay active in this phase.
      • Your goal is to lucid dream not reach SP. (If you want sleep paralysis disregard this; but its not something I look for while attempting to LD; its something that happens in the background.)

And now. Read carefully what shady wrote at least three times. So much magic in that words. And just dont read it. Try to understand every little word she mentioned, becouse if you do. You would understand WILD.

      Numbness.... Pretty interesting thing. Actually why would you want to get numb? Becouse when you are relaxed, it is much easier to concentrate on your internal world. Becouse external world feels so easy, becouse you may just let it go. And thats what is WILD aiming to do. Let go of your body and exchange it for your imagined body. {But you will soon find out in your next lucid dreams}

I don't know that "numb" would be the word I'd use to describe it... more like "tingly".

You know you're getting pretty close when you feel that, though. I think what that is is the precursor to SP - I think SP finally occurs when your body starts vibrating like mad.

I've been trying to WILD for a few nights, last night was strange. I gave up at one point as I couldn't focus very well, but I was in a strange state when I got up (wasn't asleep or dreaming). I could just stare at a wall and zone out, weird.
