As far as my dreams go, travel = not good.
      I think being in a tent out in the nature is very different to being at a hotel when traveling.

      I was not sure why I thought that when I first read your post, but I think it's this;

      Say you are on a vacation where you got the beach, pools, all kinds of sightseeing to do. Then you go do those things during the day, and once you are done, you go back to the hotel, that's where you sort of zoom out of exploring mode. When you go to bed, you have the thoughts of the day in your mind, and now you are sort of in the middle between safety of home and excitement of the vacation.

      But, say you are on a trip of staying overnight in nature.
      Ugh, it's hard to explain methinks, but I just feel like the 'zooming out' feeling ever comes in that, it feels like one never really gets out of it, never getting to think of anything else. It's only when you really get home that you think about it all.
      (Warning; from my own experience/Not sure if I'm talking shit or actually something.)

      the point I was trying to make isn't that "travel" induces more lucid dreams, just that it tends to put you in situations where your sleep patterns/schedule and habits (bed vs. floor, smells, temperature, noises around you) may be drastically or at least somewhat different. Like any other factor, those things can either have drastically positive or negative effects on your dreams or anything in between, everybody reacts differently. The key would then be to determine for ones self what the ideal mixture of altered sleeping arrangements would be, but if that involves changing time zones it's probably not all that efficient of a way to have more lucid dreams.

      Actually...a possible reason why some individuals experience this type of phenomena is simple: Your mind becomes more alert upon being in certain places other than your home, which is much more familiar to you. Thereby, alertness is contributed to awareness and viceversa which lead to frequently having lucid dreams. Last but not least, lucid dreams feed on one's awareness in order to process in your mind...

The other day, I had to sleep on the floor of a hotel, I was also in a city as opposed to a town, but I had an incredibally clear and powerful DILD!!! This is odd because this is my second LD ever. But what blew me away was that another dreamer, Echosun13, had to sleep on the floor the next day. Guess what she had? Her 3rd LD, it was also a DILD. So what I am saying is that there may be some places where LDs are more common. Any other ideas?
      You should have your scientist license revoked. Weren't you taught in high school that you can't draw such broad conclusions without testing a large amount of people, controlling the extraneous variables, and being able to repeat the study results? Correlation does not equal causation!
