As far as my dreams go, travel = not good.
I think being in a tent out in the nature is very different to being at a hotel when traveling.
I was not sure why I thought that when I first read your post, but I think it's this;
Say you are on a vacation where you got the beach, pools, all kinds of sightseeing to do. Then you go do those things during the day, and once you are done, you go back to the hotel, that's where you sort of zoom out of exploring mode. When you go to bed, you have the thoughts of the day in your mind, and now you are sort of in the middle between safety of home and excitement of the vacation.
But, say you are on a trip of staying overnight in nature.
Ugh, it's hard to explain methinks, but I just feel like the 'zooming out' feeling ever comes in that, it feels like one never really gets out of it, never getting to think of anything else. It's only when you really get home that you think about it all.
(Warning; from my own experience/Not sure if I'm talking shit or actually something.)
