Thread: Reality Check Trouble?

Okay, so last night was the fourth night I attempted lucid dreaming. I think I was very close.

To keep it as short as possible, here's my dream in a nutshell: I was walking into my middle school, trying to remember which classroom is mine. Then I realized it's the first day of high school, I am supposed to be at the high school across the street. Then I was walking down the hall, and I thought how did I make a mistake like this? I must be dreaming.

So I looked at my hands, and they looked normal, and I tried to put my finger through my palm, and it didn't go through. I really thought I felt my fingernail on my hand. So then I decided this was real, and continued through the dream, taking it as reality, not noticing the other obvious dream signs that happened later.

So what I'm asking is, does this happen to anyone else? Could I be dreaming of almost lucid dreaming? And is there a better reality check I could try? A really foolproof reality check? Thanks!

Try the nose reality check next time. Plug your nose and try to breath through it. If it's a dream, you'll breath just fine(and it feels pretty cool.) This one is dang near foolproof, unless someone happens to be holding your nose in real life at the time.

Cool, I'll keep that one in mind next time and try to use it.

In my dream, I knew I was dreaming, tho I didnt become lucid, I "decided" to just dream on.. GRRRR!!!

I have had exactly the same problem. My finger simply doesn't go through my palm. For me, trying the light switch works like a charm, as well as checking digital watches/clocks. I find that I always seem to have a digital watch once I think to look at it, even though I never wear one in real life.

Here is what I did:
Gather as many RCs you can and the next time you become lucid, try all of them and see which ones work

What happens if they all work?

You find your favorite, or the one that is the most subtle. But who the hell cares>
