I think I'm getting closer to a WILD

Hey everyone. Last night I decded to WILD. After a while of concentrating on my breathing, where I wanted to go in my dream, etc, I started seeing colors, then came slight vibrations, and finally i felt my body start to spin, but unfortunately I heard a noise in rl and it woke me up in the middle of that. So any suggestions? Am I getting close?

Also, I'd just like to say hi to everyone of DV. I look forward to getting to meet all of you and getting better at this whole WILD, FILD type things.

      to DV, Moon!!!

And yes, you were entering Sleep Paralysis, and nearly got into a WILD. Were you attempting this while people were awake in your house? You should really wait until everyone is either asleep or not home so you will not be interrupted.

If I got that close to a WILD and got woken up I would be pretty angry.

Thanks for the great welcome! As far as I could tell, everyone was asleep. It might have been something falling off a counter or something, all I know is that it woke me out of SP. I wasn't entirely mad, because that is the fathest I have ever gotten in a WILD. Is there any advice you can offer as to something i was doing wrong or something to hold my concentration next time?

Dont you just hate it when that happens? But yeah, like Scarhand said, you entered SP and were definitely close. As a matter of fact, you were pretty much there if you felt that sudden rush of falling or spinning. Thats just unfortunate that you were awakened, but remember that SP does bring about a lot of auditory hallucinations that can startle people awake. Its not uncommon; its actually awakened me many times when Ive been alone in the house and very close to WILDing. They can get very loud and be mistaken for RL noises. Whatever the case, remember to remain still, continue breathing slowly, try not to get excited and go with the flow of SP.

Thanks for another great welcome! You guys are all so nice. Anyway, it is possible that it was an auditory hallucination, i'm not entirely sure. I'll try it again tonight and see what my results are. I really hope I can get it this time, but I need to remember that when I awaken after a dream to forget about trying to WILD or FILD again and frst recall the dream I just had. Sometimes the excitement overwhelms me, and I forget to write down my dreams. Thanks for the advice, and I'll definitely report back here with results.

Hello and welcome to the forums first and foremost .

The two people above nailed it pretty well; so not going to repeat what they say; however I just wanted to say that Auditory Hallucinations are definitely extremely possible in that hypnagogic state.

I notice quite often that I dont hear things as I go asleep; but later on in the process shortly before I slip into the dream I will hear a loud crash or bang; and sometimes I really dont even know what I hear. I just jolt awake. I think alot of times its because I had juuusst slipped into the dream; and my body is kind of experiencing both scenarios at one time. I feel myself laying in my bed very relaxed; but brief sounds and splashes of imagery from the dream seep through very abruptly and cause me to jolt awake. I have also literally felt like my arm smashed through something in mid air while laying in bed; although I knew damn well that it was resting on my leg. Moral of the story is just about anything can happen .

It is very possible that something actually just fell down and woke ya up; but you basically wrote word for word what happens to me; and its always in my head. Early on when I was learning during that stage I was really just waiting and watching for anything new to happen; so a big loud noise would really bring me out of my element. Nowadays I hear full fledged sentences/noises as Im falling asleep because Im able to just progressively relax through them without it catching my attention. Its simply background noise. The best way to get around it is to just get used to it... and instead of looking at it as a brick wall or obstacle in your way; try to think of it as just another awesome tool to use to your advantage. Maybe that noise will once day serve as a reminder to awaken your conscious mind a bit more right before the transition; for me its sort of like a 'tell' that I will fall asleep soon; its now or never pretty much.

For now you could throw some comfortable earplugs in for a few nights and see if you hear any noises; it should really help isolate the sounds you hear from real life. If people can see colors, images, feel spinning/falling etc etc while falling asleep; surely sound is not to far fetched!

Haha I get what you mean by it not being too far fetched. A lot of people call me crazy if I tell them I saw colors and started spinning as I was drifting off to sleep. And it might have been what you described, and it just jolted me awake. Who knows. I hope that I can become more and more used to it all. It was pretty exciting to know that I was going to SP, so that might have sparked it too. Im just going to keep trying, and I know eventually I will be able to have an LD like when I was younger.

Thanks for such a great welcome from all of you, I really feel a lot more confidence now.

Sure thing! If you need ANY help, you can PM me whenever. If I can't help you then I'm sure there's someone else who can.

You got insanely close, you just have to remember that everything you see and hear is all in your head.
