Do you tell your friends you lucid dream?

Hey, I was just curious if people in the community share their knowledge or experiences of lucid dreaming with their friends?

I've told a couple of friends, and they just think it's weird.

A surprising number of people have been interested when I mention it. I've tried inviting them here, but I've yet to see them around.

I'll bring it up if the conversation somehow gets steered in that direction and I sense that they might be at least slightly interested. But overall this doesn't happen too much. I've told most of my close friends at one point or another, but I wouldn't be surprised if many of them have since forgotten, I bring it up so rarely.

Regarding their reactions, usually people I decide to tell will at least feign interest, but the conversation usually moves on pretty quick and I don't hear about it again, so

Hm, well some of them know I like to try and control and my dreams and they shrug it off as another "Martin thing" (im quite quirky ). I told my mom and she says "A dreams a dream, why bother to mess with it? You need to listen to your subconcious."
My cousin, who i told is rather interested in it, and has been trying WBTBs now

I've told a few of my firends. One because he saw my EWOLD book. Out of the three two thought it was cool. One actually thought about trying it. The one who I showed the book to seems to think of it like a joke...

Yeah, lucid dreaming is hard to believe until you've experienced it.

Yes. And they're all assholes about it. They think that I'm insane or on drugs or something.

I think I brought up the subject of lucid dreaming to my parents when they were talking about this dream but all I said was something like "I had this dream the other day where, it was like I knew I was dreaming. It was crazy." (Didn't want to say something too sketchy; they'd probably suspect drugs). They just gave me a look like "hmm". Not in a bad way or anything, but I can see how everyone gets negative feedback.

I have told several of my friends. Two of them thought it was really cool and are now practicing techniques from the site. Another friend thought it was kinda cool but is way too lazy to do it. One of them doesn't think he can do it. And the last thought it was a load of crap. He is the only person that I've talked to that has had a negative response to lucid dreaming. But oh well, his loss.

I told one of my friends about it and found out he was a natural with a recall of like 3 a week, wich is kick ass for someone who doesn't know afout LDs. Still, he refuses to go on DV because he thinks a DJ is girly. What a waste of tallent :O

I actually have a 'dream buddy' who suggested a great book (Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming) and we encourage each other through the process of writing in our DJs and exercises to work on, etc. It's great to have someone to share dreams with and keep you motivated.

ya same here. I only told 1 person about my lucid dreaming, and me him are like bro's and he's open minded and creative. I don't even tell my family anymore, though I used to when I first started but no one really gave a sh*t. My mom would think I was on drugs or something, or she would be so passive and say something like "You don't know what you're talking about." so ya, I would never bring it up unless the subject of dreaming came up, and even then I'd be reluctant cause people can be so ignorant.

I have 3 or so friends who i discuss lucid things with. But the friends i have in school, ect, i wouldn't tell. They'd probably think i turned into some delusional, drug taking shit. This type of thing would generally be way out of my usual character, you see. But i like it, lol .

2 of my friends are members on here; Dizko and Niddiboy.

BTW; I noticed Conquer you have been adopted by Dizko, the reason why he hasn't been on for so long is that i think he's been banned from the computer ^^.

I do tell them I know when I'm dreaming sometimes and am to take control. Mostly, I hear "that's awesome", "sweet". But, I probably wouldn't tell them that I try to do it on purpose. It's not that they would think it's weird or anything, but I would have to play a game of 100 questions with them. It was that way when I told them I suffered from waking sleep paralysis.

I told my mother about it and she said she's had a few of those dreams. I told my father and he said it seems like a strange thing to do and would probably mess up your sleep. My brother who smokes a lot of pot told me it sounded cool and he's been able to do it a few times after heavy sessions. And when I mentioned controlling dreams to a co-worker she said "Oh! Lucid dreaming! I can do that, it's so cool!" This said, when we mentioned it to another co-worker he said that life sucked enough, why would you want to be awake in your dreams!

I also told my best friend, who is also a natural, and it turns out we've had many shared dreams together when we've dreamt of each other.

I've had the similar reply from my brother about heavy sessions.

However, you must be lost if you're going to mention shared dreams here.
I think the forum you're looking for is Beyond Dreaming.

I have brought it up to the majority of my close friends. Sometimes they even bring it up to me. Some of them are skeptical and others accept it outright and even have mentioned having had their own (one said "Oh, I hate those dreams where you know you're dreaming! I always wake myself up!", another told me he's had a couple and since hearing what I'm able to do in mine has tried to do better in his).

I'll tell my friends about it sometime. They'd probably think I'm weird and then completely forget about it.

I talk to some of my friends and family about LDing and my LDs. I have a friend who is also a natural LDer, like me, and we chat about it fairly frequently. I have another friend who is a natural, but is totally uninterested in learning about LDing, so we don't talk much about it except to laugh about funny dreams. Some of my friends looked at me like I was weird the first time I told them about LDing, so I don't talk to them about it anymore.
