      new LD category...NILDs?

I think there should be another term for the type of lucids that I have (and others that I've spoken with have too).

These are not DILDs, WILDs, MILDs, etc. and do not seem to fit into any sort of category of lucid dreaming...so I'm hoping you guys can help me come up with an accurate name for these.

Description: Lucids which occur while napping during the day or sleeping at night where you completely fall asleep and have very vivid lucid dreams without any induction technique or recognizing of dream signs. You go straight from sleep to lucid....not sleep to dream to lucid like DILD, and not wake to lucid like WILD. Often occur after ingesting caffeine. Very intense. Very vivid.

I'm thinking either spontaneous lds (SLDs) or non-induced lds (NILDs)...haha I dont know, any ideas?

there is already a name for them, nap induced lucid dreams as you said.
its not widely used because people have better things to do during the day,and as the main website suggests, its not reccomended to sleep your life away.

Ok, well...by definition a NILD occurs when you sleep for 5-6 hours, wake for 1-2 hours, and then go back to bed. But as I've stated, these can occur at ANY time of the day or at night so sorry but I guess that would not classify these as NILDs unless the definition of NILD is changed.

And who's sleeping there life away? You have a problem with napping?

      nope your totally wrong.
the method you stated there is the WBTB method;wake, back to bed.
nap induced lucid dreams can occur durung any time of the day,yes thats a NILD.
when you sleep for 5-6 hours and wake up for an hour then go back to bed, thats a WBTB.
when you take short naps during the day thats a NILD.

and when i stated its not good to sleep your life away i was referring to if you used it as an induction technique.
the day is supposed to be for doing things and lucid dreams arent supposed to interfere with your everyday life.

i guess its a variation on leave work at work and home at home.

Ok maybe I am confused...but I took that definition straight from the Tutorial section of this website...so who is wrong? haha

How does the Nap Induced Lucid Dream (NILD) technique work?-It works by staying up for an hour or two after waking up before going to bed again. This has proven to be a very effective technique, maybe the most effective around. Sleep for about 5-6 hours, then stay awake for about 1-2 hours and go back to sleep. [/b]
I prefer your definition of NILD better than the tutorial since you can nap at any time of the day, so maybe the definition of NILD should be changed. Also...what about when the LDs occur at night without any induction technique...is there a name for that?

Where I come from, naps are a part of everyday life. So if you can lucid dream while doing something you would have done regardless, all the better.

i understand that, but i meant dont change your average daily cycle according to lucid dreams. IE dont nap soley to induce lucid dreams...

Seriously I would suggest this to ANYONE. It's money. Really. I took a nap yesterday and had like 6 different LDs. I was in this bizarre state of mind where I would have a few LDs, then wake up...and fall back asleep right into an LD. I could have done this all day but eventually I got up.

Strange thing is though, that this is pretty much the only way I can LD. I've never become lucid while already dreaming and have never recognized a dream sign. I think most of my LDs come from FAs b/c they typically start from me getting out of bed.

i'll try it at least a couple of times, so dont worry

but you see i have one or two reasons as to why i dont like taking naps.

      1. I sleep for about 4-6 hours and by the time i wake up, i pretty much dont have time to finish my homework
      2. If i take a nap that day, i wont be able to sleep untill like midnight, maybe more and then i'll be sleep deprived again

Yeah I totally understand. Actually the only time I've been having lucids lately is on Sundays when I'm napping b/c Sunday is pretty much the only day that I CAN nap. Yesterday I slept in till like noon and then took a nap around 1 for an hour or so....so maybe it was more like a wake back to bed type of thing?

I'm not sure what it was but I could definitely "feel" that I was in a different state of mind, like I could have had infinite LDs if I wanted to. I wonder why that was...I didn't get much sleep the two previous nights so maybe it was from REM rebound where the body compenstates for lost REM sleep time?

I know this is a strange suggestion...but what if another way to induce lucids was to get little to no sleep for like 2 days (schedule allowing) and then going to sleep...resulting in very long REM states (REM Rebound) and making it easier to LD????

oh god, 2 days? you'll need a LOT of caffeine for that. I had a lot of trouble just trying to stay up from pulling an all-nighter and then forcing myself to stay up untill the night. Im not sure that would work though. I dont remember if i had good dream recall that night but i do remember that when falling asleep, i felt some weird sensations. For example, i felt like i was rocking back and forth or something like that. dont really remember anything else though
