      Why do you do it?

Why do you lucid dream? What do you do while you lucid dream?

For me, I like the idea of lucid dreaming because I am a fan of the supernatural and the unimaginable. I have always been fascinated by the unknown powers of the brain. Lucid dreaming satisfies my passion for both of those elements in an incredibly surreal way, which ends up driving me to get deeper and deeper into it. Now, I not only view lucid dreaming as an entertaining activity to do while asleep, but also as a tool for one's improvement in both the physical and psychological aspects of life.

Not only can you create worlds, beings, stories, laws, fulfill fantasies and fly, but you can also use lucid dreaming to communicate with deeper levels of yourself, and learn, so much.

Now tell me, why do you, lucid dream?

I do it because I want to create a better place to be even if it's only for REM periods.

LOL My reason's not quite that hardcore, more a little embarrassing. There is someone I'd like to meet, spend some time with, and it's not going to happen in reality, more's the pity.

Well, its simple, if I lucid, I can study, search myself, experiment in tons of ways, use magick and all of them can be done while having fun, tons of it. Isn't that enough?

I just like being lucid. It's the ultimate mindfuck.

Motivation isn't much of a factor for me. Now that I fully realize that I might be dreaming at any time, there is no way that I could possibly stop myself from doing reality checks. If I suspect that I may be dreaming, how could I not check? For me it is analogous to checking the time on a clock.

I have this weird thing where I think that it's really cool how your mind can create the world that you're in when you're having a lucid dream. I think it's especially neat how you have all of your senses in your dreams. I don't know why but I think it's cool. Sometimes I just start touching things in my dreams and thinking "cool..." just because I think it's cool how your mind can create textures and detail and stuff.

Because I can, simply. It's there, so might as well, right?

The utility of lucid dreaming is vast. You can have fun, solve problems, get ideas for art pieces of musical pieces that you wouldn't normally get, etc. Since I've been lucid dreaming, my memory for school has been amazing. I can study for like 1 day and know everything. It's really bizarre.

Your posts always boggle my mind how you can put things into a few words that I would never be able to explain in 10 minutes.

I do it as a means to make myself "spiritual" stronger. There's a kind of confidence that comes with being able to do wild things like flying or telekinesis.

Plus, there's a part of me that's hoping that, if I do it enough in a lucid dream, I'll be able to do it in real life.

For the moment I am having too much fun just going crazy and exploring in my lucids.

When I get bitter like all of the people who complain that their lucids are boring, then things like self-exploration and 'quasi-scientific' experimentation will occur. In the meantime, it is just a fun outlet until I'm able to get over that fact (if possible)

      It's just enjoyable.

My husband and employees refer to me as freak. Especially when it comes to lucid dreaming and OBE's.

I really feel bad for people who don't understand how incredible life is and how many roads their are to travel. They settle for what is right in front of them. That is a sad way to live and I am glad I don't settle.

My mom once told me if your bored your wasting and it shows ignorance. I don't think I have ever been bored since. That was 25 years ago, that shows my age.

Lucid dreaming is the ultimate fantasy game. OBEing is the ultimate wisdom game. The best thing about it is its free and its priceless. There is only a select few who can play that's the best part.

Even better is when you can get non believers to believe. Talk about your reformed smokers look at someone who is once a skeptic about lucidity now they beg for more.

There is no drug or alcohol that can get you that kind of high.

I do it to gain wisdom, spirtuality, and its just plain fun.

Yeah, but that reasoning applies to everything.

Oh yeah, settling for something is creating limitations, why would anyone want to do that? I was arguing with my girlfriend about this last night... She thinks each individual has a certain path to follow, and that they must settle once they master that path. I don't believe so at all, why not walk down a new path once the latter has been mastered? That's how people find new concepts, new ideas...by learning how everything works, and finding connections and stuff. - What do you guys think?

I agree that nothing else in the world is as intense and exhilarating as a bad ass lucid dream. What do you mean when you say OBE's are the ultimate wisdom game though? Do you feel that OBE's are more spiritual, and enlightening?

You guys came up with some good stuff here...thanks for your responses. You know what, this whole week has been nothing but fun in my dreams too! I've been driving really fast subseadoo's (yeah...a seadoo but submarine like), I snowboarded on the snowy pyramids of Egypt for the 3rd time now (thank you Snowy_Egypt, you have no idea how much fun I've been having since I saw your name on here, lol). Oh yeah, and huh... baby jesus wouldn't be too proud of me if he saw a couple of those dreams.... mouhahahaha!

I stated that OBE's are about wisdom because I feel when I have OBE which is very rare once maybe twice a year. To me it seems like it is happening in the present if I visit anyone its actually happening at that time. I can tell who ever I'm visiting, what they were doing at that time. I have done this to my mom several times and she gets a kick out of it.

The major difference is when I have an OBE, I am completely drained the next day. I am exhilirated to say the least but I am totally drained to the point where I want to put my head down on my desk and sleep the only time that happens is when I am sick which is rare. Seriously if I could do this every night I would but my business would probably fail. Due to sleeping all day instead of working.

OBE seems to last a long time like it is real time unlike lucid dreaming which happens in a flash. It seems like I can ask anything and be led to the answer. One day I will figure out how to jump to the next day and get the lottery numbers.

I think a lot of people refer to this as astral projection. Any way it is not dream like at all it is like being awake. The only difference, you think it your there in a flash.

Lucid dreams I feel are more fantasy because of the games you can play and nobody will ever know. Unless one of the members is lurking and watching. Lucid dreams I really don't have any limits to my games where when I OBE I have guilt it is kinda hard to explain. I guess I don't mind misbehaving when lucid but when I OBE I'm aware. Sorry if this does not make sense and I am babbling it is hard to put into words.

As far as a path I believe that we all have lessons to learn and when were done we will move on to the other side. I am a firm believer that everyone is entitled to there beliefs. Thank the lord I don't have to share in there beliefs.

I "want" to lucid dream, because i want to see if its possible, and if it is then i get the added benefit of muscle memory, where i can practice things i need to do in real life in the dream state, so i can be extra good when i wake up, and when i have the time scrue around a bit i guess.
