      Question Dream Recall?

okays well last night i tried the method of waking up every 1hr 30min thing +having a dream journal, but i have a question? for some reason i only remember certain bits and pieces of my dreams usually only one scene and what i felt. and i can never remember what happened before that? does remembering only some parts of your dream count as a dream recall? or do you have to remember the entire thing? @_@ which i think is impossible since i cant even fathom how long my dreams are since i can barly remember what happened or how long it lasted. maybe im retarded ~_~ or maybe can my dreams just be really short? like i dreamed i was in my 2nd block at school and this chick who was kinda fat (no offense) came in all skinny and pretty and i was like wow it only took her two days to lose all that weight? and i had no idea why i was thinking that. and then its kinda like my dream ended?

hmm sounds like a very exhausting method. try sleeping normally but when you wake up don't move AT ALL, don't even open your eyes, and lye there recalling your dreams.

      tiring...just relax

yeah dont over do it, just go to bed naturally and have the intention to remembe3r your dreams, every night before bed flick through a few of your dreams( you better have a dream journal lol,) this will get your dream brain working and thinking, when you wake just relax and keep you eyes shut(as above) if you can only remmber bits and peices then dont worry that is dream recall also, just keep it up and dont think too much you will get it!!!

heh, you are not getting enough sleep dude. Go to bed. When you wake up just write down anything you remember. It all counts. The more you write down after a full night of sleep, the more of your dream you will recall. In a month, you will no doubt remember full story lines So just take it easy

I think that this is one of the great things about a dream journal. For me, before I actually had my first LD, it was always encouraging to watch the length of my journal entries grow. I remember one of my first dream entries was "I was straining cauliflower in a bottomless bucket" Doesn't seem like much, but bottomless buckets actually became a dream sign for me and helped me achieve an LD in the future!

Keep it up and write even the littlest details down...you never know how they will end up helping you in the future.

the other posters are correct. You have to sleep longer for your dreams to last longer. Longer-lasting dreams increase the chances that you'll remember more

Yep! I think there have been studies showing that your REM cycles get longer as the night progresses, so your last dream is almost always your longest
