What did you think of LDing when you first heard of it?

I learned LDing by myself ages ago. I never knew of the phrase 'lucid dream' until I read about it in a newspaper magazine about the human brain and intellegence. Of course I knew it was real, having experienced it already
If I had never had a lucid dream and just read about it today I'd think (dunno though) I'd find it believable. I'm sceptical about things like astral projection or mind reading, but lucid dreaming seems to me just as conceivable as the idea that people dream about yellow cars (and I've never dreamed about yellow cars).

Its weird. On a shiny day as a little kid i stopped and looked up at the sky, thinking "If it only was possible to have and experience my own universe where everything was possible". I remember this so clearly. If i only had realized that it was possible back then.

I first learned about it sometime around 1983 after reading a Carlos Castaneda book. My first thought was:
"Why would anyone want to do that?"
      my second was:
"Oh well, that sounds like too much trouble"

I wish someone had been around back then to kick me! Think of all those wasted years!

      BTW: Good topic 8)

Until I found this place, I had always wondered if it was possible to control dreams or become more aware of them. I thought this because I have had experiences where I would be restless at night and end up tossing and turning. The result was, even though I wasn't having LD's (mild LD's maybe) I would still end up being more concious and aware of what was going on in my dreams, and found it easier to control them.

Occasionally I would look up articles on sleep and dreaming it never got me anywhere. None of them had anything about being concious or aware of dreaming. Then HowStuffWorks had the answer I was looking for.

Of all the paths you cross, you never know which ones you'll end up walking, right? Apparently you still had some homework to do.

I think the first I encountered LDs outside my own experience was Waking Life. It was like, "Sweet, other people do this." It seems like whenever I hear about other people's LD experiences, it opens up new possibilities in my own dreams.
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

      Dreams........**dreamy look in his eye**

I had always been facinated with dreams, and sleep, and so I did some searching on the internet, and lo and behold, I found Laberge's book, after I *cough* lost *cough* *cough* my copy, I did more searching online and found this place! Been into it ever since. But when I first heard about it, it was like "That's the way we're MEANT to dream." it was like this wasted time at night became a resource of imagination and freedom.

I have always loved dreaming since I was younger but I never had control of my dreams/ lucidity. I love dance music and I was listening to a chill out mix and it had clips from Waking Life and I found them really interesting. (You can download the set here: http://www.hybridized.org/sets/?id=119 ) I found out they were from the movie and I read sites about it and it got me to buy the DVD. I watched it, found this site and I have had LDs since

Therefore, I have to thank Digital Witchcraft (the DJs) :bravo: [/url]

Hey what do you know... Rtex, you're back.

My first thought was that lucid dreaming has got to be the coolest thing ever. Then I immediately forgot about it for like 6 months.

Well i was talking to WILLSMITH and then he was like "Have you ever heard of lucid dreaming?" and i was like "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT YOU BITCH" and hes like "Its where you can control your dreams" and im like "Oh... sounds cool. But no ive never heard of it." and hes like "www.dreamviews.com" and it turned all clicky. That one tiny little thing changed the course of my life ALOT... i learned alot of junkl from here BESIDES lucid dreaming: litestep, deviantart, photobucket, and other things... OH and i wouldnt know ophelia and ldguy because they (unknowingly) got me started on a BIG BIG BIG project that will be really fun and stuff...

      Oh crap im rambling

around 5-6 years ago I was looking in one of those "things you never thought you have to have" catologs (a lot of that stuff is nonsense and crap)

I then saw the NovaDreamer, and the desrciption was out of this world

"control your dreams! enter your fantasies! become anything you desire! travel the world!...etc"

i thought is was soo cool, but i remembered that mostly everything to good to be try is a scam, so i let go of the idea until several years later doing a search on lucid dreaming... that's how i found this site (plus lucidity.com) and discovered that it is indeed possible!
