      Sleep Paralysis Questions - Fast reply?

      First off, I read that SP doesn't work at night. I was desperate to have an LD last night (oh, how that DIDN'T pay off -___-') and so, I decided to try SP just for the heck of it. It was really quite interesting. This is what happened;

      I was laying in bed, still, eyes closed like you're supposed to do. I waited. To keep my mind awake I was counting my breaths, chanting, "I'll wake up after every dream," and thinking about the day. Whenever I started to drift off I'd yell instead of just say it (in my head) and then I'd be ...awake [for lack of better word] again. So, after only 10 minutes, I was surprised.

      It began when I felt a tug on my body. I'd been reading about SP for about an hour before this, so I was pretty well informed (though I'd still like to know more). Every time I exhaled, I had an overwhelming urge that was almost painful. I wanted to laugh. Or rather, move. But it did hurt. -___-' I resisted it for what seemed like a minute or two. Then, it left, and I was bored in my bed again. Another ten minutes passed, then another. I finally gave up, moved and tried again. But it failed and I didn't even have that painful feeling.

      Next thing I knew, I was dreaming about a beach that was under people's skin or something gross like that. I have dreams about traveling sometimes. ^^;

      I think I'm going to try a SP nap today, but I'm not sure. Does anyone know what time is recommended for this? I woke up about an hour ago... so a fast response would be very helpful and appreciated... by me, of course. Oh, and you get a free cookie =D

      If you are still tired, try napping now. The optimal WBTB lasts an hour (according to LaBerge). Otherwise, nap whenever is most comfortable, just keep it consistent. This stuff takes practice. It's against the rules to get discouraged!

      What you described sounds like SP, mostly because you said it lasted only a minute. That's how it's supposed to work. SP varies from day to day; hopefully next time you'll have a more positive experience.

      Also, how do you know it failed? Did you reality check? It could have been a false awakening that then transformed later into the beach dream.

      One last note: you don't have to feel sleep paralysis to enter a dream. They are supposed to occur simultaneously.

      Yeah, I did a RC. ^^ I try to do them whenever I wake up so I don't go through my day and then actually wake up. It's weird because I've never actually had a FA. *shrug* But, yeah, I think I'm going to go try... after I take a shower and eat breakfeast. *troops off to do so*

      Also, thanks for the note. That'll be helpful. ^^

      Okay, I'm officially pissed at myself. -___-

      I tried not only once but twice.

      First, I was laying there for I have no idea how long, but I was determined not to let my mind drift. However, that ended up happening anyways, and before I even felt the urge to move, I fell asleep for real. I woke up an hour later, but it turned out to be a false awakening... though I failed to recognize it. In that FA, I went back to sleep, but before I did, I heard the voices of my brothers, who weren't there at the time... they were at the school practicing for wrestling. So, that is part of my anger. I didn't do a RC. -__-' Now, then, I just woke up, and I was about to try again. But this time, I turned on my alarm on the quiet setting and let it ring continuously, so when my body fell asleep, I'd know that I was switching to internal hearing. But my mom came and woke me up and hour before I expected.

      So, I'm frustrated... but still determined. I'm trying again.

      I ended up sleeping for 3 hours. *snooze*
