First Lucid Dream of 2009

First off, Happy new year!

I have been looking at these forums for a couple months now and it has been a huge help as I have had two previous short lucid dreams, but I have never posted before. I decided to post today because of lucid dream experience I had last night.

Previously, my other lucid experiences have been very brief. Each time I noticed I was dreaming I would become anxious and afraid of the fact that the reality I was experiencing was actually a dream. This anxiousness would lead me to wake up very quickly causing me to miss out on the full experience.

Last night was different. I can't recall exactly why I became lucid but I was in my room and I decided to try a nose reality check (which I found odd since I have never preformed one of these in waking life. I always do a hand or text check) and I was able to breathe easily. I quickly became excited about being lucid when the strangest thing happened. I was looking at myself in my room. I was me but I was also looking at myself. This other me looked like I did from a few months ago and it was full of the anxiousness I had experienced before. This time though I was full of excitement and happiness and I grabbed this other me, which felt exactly like touching myself, and I threw him away and I said "No! I am going to explore!" After this I went on to start jumping in my room which allowed me to become airborne and fly around my house for a few minutes before waking up.

Anyway, my question to you all is has any one else had this experience of encountering themselves?

After having this lucid dream I feel so confident now that I have gotten past this part of me that you could call "scared" and I almost feel like a new person. What a great way to start off the new year... I can't wait for my next lucid!

I love the symbolism that seems to be evident! Also, it's good to hear that you got over being scared.

I met myself briefly in mirrors, once I opened the door for myself. But nothing too strange.
