      Bilingual DCs?

I am bilingual and in progress of learning spanish (I already know french and english (french being my first language). Not long ago, I had a dream in which a DC was trying to get me confused by speaking spanish (some high schooler's stupid joke) which got him more comfused. I even was able to translate what he said.

Getting closer to the point, I was thinking about a conversation I could have with a DC. I started in english and then by accident finished in french and then it strocked me. Could my DCs understand me in all the languages I know? Could I start talking in english to one and then if I started talking in french he would get really comfused? Would he ignore the change and even reply me in the new language I have surprised him with? The dream about the guy getting comfused while trying to talk spanish isn't a proof they can't speak languages we have learned since I'm still limited in spanish and would of gotten comfused myself. Anyways, if you have spare time (and you're bilingual) try seeing for yourself. As my signature says I haven't gotten a LD yet so I can't try myself. Maybe another time.

      Put your opinions and experiences!

Given that DCs are the personification of your subconscious, then DCs are probably more able to handle implicitly learned skills--such as language is, largely--more so than the conscious mind.

But remember that some DCs do not know (pretend) anything about Lucid Dreaming, but we do. Knowing that, our DCs do not always have all our knowledge so maybe they do not know all the languages you know...

Yes, but Quark's point wasn't that the DCs are spawned from you and therefore they know the languages you know (I think). What I think he was saying was that, since they are the personification of your subconscious, they could understand what you were saying even if you were speaking a made up language.

The only experience I have had with this was some completely random DC experience where everybody was supposed to be talking some random European language... I heard it as English.

OK, I get it. But could they answer? I've heard of Dream Laws. If one of the Dream Law is that the DCs only speak english, then they couldn't understand French except if I defeat the Dream Laws by making the DC able to understand me. If I ever have a LD (which I will, right?) I'll check.

lol, probably was comfusing. I remember having a dream when I was learning english in which the DCs were talking english so I couldn't understand... Well I kinda did but not fully... Is it possible that my subconscious knows part of language that I don't know?

You could be picking up tidbits if you are learning the language, or if you are around a lot of people who speak it. Your brain would then put it together as it seemed to fit.

sorry, tidbits is not in my vocabulary yet? Let's add it in! What does it mean?

I get what you mean though...
That dream was non-lucid and it was three years ago and I didn't really care about dreams then so I don't have a clear memory of it...

There's still the Dream Laws that could stop the characters from knowing the language... Could there be characters that mute?

Tidbits are pieces of information that you might pick up. For instance, if you overhear somebody talking about something you didn't know about, you might pick up a tidbit of information. Synonyms are things like: small pieces, morsels, bits, bits and pieces, etc.

No problem. A lot of people say English is the hardest language to learn. Is it true? ( I had no problem learning it, I spoke it as a three year old )

My dreams and DC are usually Finnish, but I have had full English dreams. Also I have lots of dreams which consists, English, Swedish, Finnish and Spanish.

My other dreamguide usually speaks in English. The other always in Finnish.
but well my mind is pretty messed up in all areas
Jujutsu is the gentle art. It's the art where a small man is going to prove to you, no matter how strong you are, no matter how mad you get, that you're going to have to accept defeat. That's what jujutsu is.

It's not the hardest language to learn, far from.

      http://www.language-learning-advisor...rn-survey.html

Its also depends on what language you are used too, some languages have similarites and that can make it easier to learn.

I would say Finnish is one of the hardest. At least in the top list especially if you speak Indo-European languages.

English is an easy language, actually. French is harder but still isn't the hardest at all. English might not be hard, but I still have an accent. Really want to get rid of it.

Dreams are, seemingly, boundless. Laws do not exist unless you create such laws. It's good practice to not read too much about the dynamics of dreams, as such dynamics may unduly influence how you experience and control your dreams.

Yes there are dream laws but they are different almost every time and are different from real laws. Exemple: The natural ability of jumping really high is a dream law. Even if there is gravity in your dream, you can still break that law... I don't remember who made an article about it but whatever, do you understand what I mean? The dream law is what feels like the reality. In reality, we can't fly, same as in some dreams. However, we have the power to break these laws when we have control. (This is all from a newbie, but it actually come from someelse so its true)

dream laws in my opinion change from one moment to the next depending on what the dreamer thinks should be real (or sometimes plain randomly ) but as lucidity is gained and increased you get more and more control over whatever is happening around you.
TAKE DV members advice with caution! some have had zero or 1-2 LD's yet act like gurus
      TOTAL LD's (almost all DILD/MILD) =160!!

      Definitly.

When your in a non-lucid dream things seem to be real as "easy long jumps/small gravity". The dream makes you believe it is normal because it is part of the dream laws and so it is "real". It's as you gain lucidity that you realize its fake and still to this point, if you have bad control, you won't be able to break the laws.

I have studied for years now the possible "dream law" thing because it intrigues me greatly and I gotta say I am very much thinking it is just individual schemes that affect. But if there is some general law it would be very interesting

That's what dream laws are, there not general, they change in each dream plot. Anyways, I'm not the one that should be telling this since I never had an LD, but that's what I've read and it made lots of sense.

And by the way, you are a really good artist!

Hmm well normal dream laws my wary through different dreams, but I was referring to LD laws. Since they are what you believe them to be, this is my hypothesis. ( like many other believe too, of course)

In LD as you are conscious, your mind alters the dreamscape. So the rules are what you make them to be. At least, untill now I haven't found anything that could be made as general rule for all LDers or I haven't heard anyone could

Offtopic : oh thank you =) I am actually pretty new for digital media so I am still taking my first steps on that area. Also I re-started drawing after 5 years of break after I discovered the digital area

Ok, I get what you mean... You're right, but let's say all that dream law has started comfusing me when I tried to explain it... I just can't wait having an LD... All I did until now is imagine how great it can be so I can't really say anything yet....

Off topic: Really? 5 years of break... Did you draw in your dreams instead to keep your skill! (that's a joke by the way ) It's really good though, there's someone in my class that is really good but all his drawings are in black and white. Same for mines too. I myself discribe myself as a good bad drawer... If you get what I mean. I'm good for a bad artist... Like, someone that is bad would see my drawing and be amase and they'll say "you're a good drawer" but when put beside a good drawer, it looks like ***! lol! If I add color to a drawing it gets really ugly. But your using that thing...? (so precise ) I mean, you're using a computer program with that thing you can write on and it does the same thing in the computer? Is it easier than drawing the ol' way? Or is the only benefit that its on the computer?

Actually good that you made this post since I haven't thought much about language usage in dreams but it's all matter of dream control really, it hones with time and pratice, like everything but yeh, normal dreams are very chaotical, at least in my case. Many laws that change with a blink.

While what you said was a joke, I don't believe that skills go away once you have learned them. They rust, you loose the touch of them, but it is very easy to get them back

About drawing tablet, I find it is easier to do the sketch with traditional pen / paper style but otherwise I use exclusively tablet but as I said I am still learning all these possibilities computers offer. Maybe year or so you see something even more pleasant for eye but I am glad someone finds these entertaining, gives me more willpower
Jujutsu is the gentle art. It's the art where a small man is going to prove to you, no matter how strong you are, no matter how mad you get, that you're going to have to accept defeat. That's what jujutsu is.

Will power is really important... I have no willpower to do my homework and school project... I never really had so much willpower on anything, but I do have lots of willpower on Lucid Dreaming.

For some reason DCs are my favorite subject when it comes to Lucid Dreaming... There probably the most mysterious part of dreams, that's why I've started this tread. First thing I want to do when I have an LD is to talk to someone. There response really interrest me... I'll see if they are bilingual while doing it but they probably will... I'll see.
