      The swallowing reflex

Hello. I have a serious problem with this. Everytime I lie down still for some time and trying to get to the mind awake/body asleep state, I start to feel that I really have to swallow. I try to ignore it but it takes all of my concentration, and if I allow myself to swallow I obviously loose everything and must start over. I don't have any problems with not to scratch/move or that stuff, only the swallowing reflex.

Anybody have had the same problem? Any tips on how to fight it?

Swallow away. Because if you don't you will think it constantly and you cannot focus on the thing you want. Swallowing is not nearly enough for me to ruin WILD. But it will if you concentrate it too much.

Though, I seem to stop swallowing when I am in good WILD state
Jujutsu is the gentle art. It's the art where a small man is going to prove to you, no matter how strong you are, no matter how mad you get, that you're going to have to accept defeat. That's what jujutsu is.

If you need to swallow try it, but right after you do swallow, completely go back to being relaxed, relax your throat and completely stop thinking about your throat as well. Act completely like you didn't just swallow and nothing happened.

You only have 2 options, either deal with it, or swallow.

Thanks guys. I guess I'll try to swallow anyway.

But do you know if it would help to lean the head backwards a bit or something? Or drink something before? I could try that myself though.

Drinking a bit of water might help, but don't too much so you don't have to use bathroom soon don't know about head angle, never really tried that way

first of the mouth must be closed 100%- saliva begins to accumulate once the jaw is open inside the mouth. for this use this method:

TAKE DV members advice with caution! some have had zero or 1-2 LD's yet act like gurus
      TOTAL LD's (almost all DILD/MILD) =160!!

What others said plus, well you gotta also try really hard not to focus on it and just begin it as a voluntary function and overtime you won't even think about it. I also had problems with that for a while and if the thought wandered into my mind by accident I started to automatically push my tongue to the top of my mouth with a bit of pressure and slightly suck my cheeks in to minimize saliva lol and I guess once I'm more relaxed my body reverts to normal X minutes later.

Thanks a lot guys. This really helped. I've tried just to not think about it, and it works well.

I also tried to suck my cheeks out of saliva as Lusense said heh, but it came back to normal again in no time.

I have the same problem, I just hate the swallowing when I try to relax my body.

      Just have to ignore it.
