      Hypnagogic book?

This is an unfinished technique I came up with. I will write it in the style of a tutorial, but I would like help getting it to work...

Step 1: Make sure it is a weekend or other suitable time when you can sleep in.

Step 2: Wake up at your normal time, but stay lying in bed.

Step 3: Stay VERY passive. Just fall asleep. But concentrate on reading, or studying, or something.

Step 4: Suddenly your brain should do a "zap" as if you just woke up. One second you will be reading a book, usually of nonsense or poems, and the next second you will realize that it is not real.

Step 5: Ahh... This is where I need help. Once I realize the illusory nature of the "book", I will usually feel my physical body again, almost always in SP. Last night I achieved a WILD (my first!) with this technique, but I don't know how to do it really. One second I was in SP, deciding that I was to scared of the HI because of a horror book I read yesterday, and when I used my never fail break-out of SP technique (twitch my leg) I was suddenly standing in Yonge-Dundas Square. I was scared for a second, but then realized the awesome truth: WILD!!!!! My LD was kind of stupid, but meh. How can I do this more often?

Awesome! That does seem something like a wild... I use to get lucid a lot doing something like that, but instead of thinking of books or something I try and remember the dreams I just had, and then thinking about dreams I fall alsleep agian, and sometimes will do an RC. This seems like a really strange way of lucid dreaming, like you have a false awakening of some sorts and then relize ur dreaming? Seems pretty cool, I might try that, but I have a hard time falling asleep...

This would not be the most effective way to LD. If you are well rested, getting more sleep would not help your body. Doing a WILD would be simmialr and more effecitve. Good try though

Ryu, the DV protocol is to experiment on these sorts of ideas (see the Research Guidelines) before proposing new lucid induction techniques. If you think it will work, send an experiment proposal to someone on the staff, and head over to the research forums for discussion and to recruit participants. Once scientific studies have conducted we can establish if it is really able to induce lucidity. Please do not write a tutorial or propose a technique without first conducting some sort of research, such threads will simply be locked. If you wish, I can move this thread to the Research Forums for you.

Regarding this technique, it sounds like any sort of WILD that involves visualizing something while falling asleep. If there are any differences please point them out to me, but otherwise I cannot see how this is its own technique or merits a tutorial.

I wanted to help people understand my technique by writing it in a familiar style.

So basically, when you realize that you are seeing hypnagogic images, how do you keep from becoming aware of your body and instead WILD?
