how uncommon is it to naturally have lucid dreams?

I've had lucid dreams since I was a child, but they weren't too frequent until I started reading about them and stuff. I just found out though that having them without any prior knowledge of them isn't the norm, just curious as too what percent of people on here haven't had them naturally because most people I know IRL who I have asked have had at least a handful.

In contrast I believe its more common than most people realise however you just can't REMEMBER the LD, just like you can't remember alot of your regular dreams.

It's no coincidence that most of the LD supplements are "memory boosters" or "memory enhancers".

Personally I often am day dreaming or thinking about nothing and suddenly the realisation will occur "oh yea I had a lucid dream last night!" and the memory of it will come flooding back although its never as clear as when I remember them immediately on waking.

I wonder how many LD's we actually do have that we simply don't remember...

I had my 3 first LD's within 3 weeks without even trying just after reading about it. Before that I had none, or at least non as I can remember.

I learned about them... not sure exactly probably a few years back? Before that it happened totally randomly on occasion can't even recall how they were triggered but almost never.

Actually, now that I think about it even then I had "heard" about the concept just never looked into it.

How long have you been practicing?

I do not recall the exact number but I remember reading in a book of mine that the average time period for people to experience their first one is within 30 days (or 3 months...don't remember). However, some have done it in days, weeks...some it has even taken years to achieve one. The latter category is a rarity though. Why do you call him lucky? Do LD's seem to be currently out of your grasp?

Reminds me of my first thread.

Something along the lines of is it common to have lucid dreams naturally.

      Pew pew.
You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.

      Smile

I've been having them since I was really young, as long as I can remember.
I used to have really weird ones, like I would be locked in a dangling cage, with a witch poking me with a broom. I used to hit myself in the face, punch my nose, attemp to pull my fingers off and screech 'WAKE UP!' because I'd be so terrified even though I knew every time it happened, it was just a dream. Then, I realised that I can do what I want, as its all in your head

I told my mate about my cool dreams where I did what I wanted, and I was really suprised that he couldn't do it, I thought everyone could do it, so he told me it was called 'Lucid dreaming', and after looking it up i realised that not everyone has them.

Anyway, I don't practice, i dont try, I just find myself either talking to a purple dog, or floating in mid-air and think 'Oh, its happened again, i'm dreaming'

      Nothing is perfect.
