How is WILD (etc) dreaming different....

from day dreaming? And, if a person spends a long time in a day dream with their eyes closed, can it fool the results of a sleep test?
I ask because I had a sleep test done a couple months ago. I know for a fact that I spent at least an hour in a day dream (I could hear noises around me outside the room), but the technician said I had practically fallen straight to sleep.
And when I'm deep in day dream, I catch myself moving my eyes back and forth as if I'm dreaming (I've always written it off as my following the dream... err day dream scene).
      Anyone know?

Interesting. I don't think I daydream on such a deep level. I don't think I could fool a sleep test. Maybe that's why I can't WILD, too. Do you daydream just the same as you dream?

I dont really "daydream" at all. I try but its nothing even close to a dream or that would even fool someone in the same room let alone a sleep test...

Yes. My daydreams are just as deep and detailed as my regular dreams but not quite as vividly detailed.

But now that I think about it more... maybe I AM actually asleep.
I used to trick being awake in school and I would shake my foot every now and then to help wake myself up or give the impression I was more awake than I really was. Over the years, I've been able to write for short periods of time and even give massages when partially asleep. My body goes on autopilot but after awhile my daydreams become complete dreams and I fall completely asleep.
      Is this actually WILD?
Are my "daydreams" actually lucid dreams?

Well, now this is interesting! That sounds like narcolepsy. Well, sort of. I suppose your daydreams could become lucid dreams if you enter full sleep mode. But if you are standing up performing some kind of a task, then I don't think you'd be fully asleep. Unless you sleep walk, too.

By the way, I sent you a PM. Interested to know a bit more about your dreaming.

Now that I think about it, I also move my eyes back and forth if I'm deep in thought. It's not very quickly though. I've often wondered why I do that and for how long.
You've all given me much to think about. It's very interesting to me
Self-induced trance without trying? Is such even possible when merely daydreaming with no outside influence?

I can hardly wait to learn the results of my sleep test. I oddly hope I have something wrong with me. I'm often criticized as being lazy or unmotivated. When my anxiety is at it's highest, I have no control over sleeping. I practically pass out. (When unmedicated, I become cataplexic) At least then I'll have a **logical** explanation for some of my quarks

      But you're not narcoleptic?

That's what I suggested. I'm interested in hearing the sleep test results, too, if you post them, Zhaylin.

I'll definitely post the results I go in on the 10th of this month.

From what I've studied up on, it seems to me that everyone who has cataplexia has narcolepsy, but not all narcolepics have cataplexia lol.
Doctors in the past have always written my cataplexia off as anxiety because that's the only time it strikes.

      Yeah, self-hypnosis.
Well all hypnosis is actuly self hypnosis (I said that somewere I think).
How do you think someone discovered hypnosis? By accedent a loooooooong time ago.
He/she probably discovered it hunting or something, because when you hnut, you have to be still and quite, yet aware (Like hypnosis lol).
So yeah, you can go into a trance without thinking about it.

Daydreaming is very different from WILDs. In fact, they are almost directly opposite from eachother. The difference between them, simply put, is that in a WILD, you are physically asleep while being conscious or aware. In a daydream, you are physically awake while being mentally unaware or not focused.

Its very possible to enter actual sleep as a result of daydreaming, I suppose, if you have your eyes closed and are very comfortable that is.

Well, that depends on whether or not you were aware in those dreams.
