Thread: Please help

I've always thought that the only way to get rid of nightmares is to get rid of your problems in real life.

However, it doesn't seem to be nightmares...

Maybe
1. It's because you are afraid/know they will act that way (or it just crosses your mind that they'll act that way)
2. You are anti-social
3. You are shy
4. there is no reason...



Did you try hugging them or being REALLY nice to them... Give them a gift?

Just stop expecting them to behave this way. Can you summon a dream character who is a person that you trust and are comfortable with? Remember, these are just figments of your imagination and the perception of them will be altered by your expectations and emotions. Stay friendly, positive, and welcoming so that they will do the same.

I totally agree with Shift. Your DCs are scary and mean because, in some way, you expect them to be. However, I think there could be more than just that at work.

I like to think of it this way: DCs are expressions of my mind and my subconscious. Essentially they are ME. I rather like myself, so I get along stellar with my DCs. Why would I be mean to myself, even if I didn't like myself? What would that accomplish -- nothing except lowered self esteem which leads to all kinds of problems and solves none!

So -- be nice to yourself! Expect your DCs to be nice to you! If they don't, tell them you will not put up with their behavior!

I can't understand why this keeps happening- I am a good person, a kind person, a loving person a person that cares for other people for a living. If this is an expression of myself then what does that mean? That deep down I am a psychopath or something-creepy -I hate that idea. I fear them and maybe that is why it keeps happening.

Yes, maybe. It's certain that if you fear something to happen that it will happen. As Shift and Seeker said, you are expecting to do so from fear. Are you particulary scared of them or are you just saying this as you don't like them and ever want to see them but it doesn't interfer in your life?

No I fear them because every time I become lucid they seem to pick up on this and react in a weird and terrifying way.

When they are doing that, what is your reaction. Have you tried huggin them? Saying hi? You should ask them to come have tea with you and then slowly walk to a little table and sit down. Prepare tea for them. XD They'll look evil until they sit down and drink a sip....

Better ask if they like tea first. If they're Americans they'll prefer coffee. My simple solution - say: "Two peanuts walked into a bar. One of them was assaulted." If they don't laugh, try tickling them.

I don't like tea (or coffee). It just sounded like a thing that defendless people would do [as not evil people, that's what I mean by defendless]

Just say "Hey, bud!"

My best advice would be:
Don't show them that you have realised that they've became evil. Treat them exactly as if they were stil like the minute before. Remember, they sometimes can read mind so....

Believe that your enemies like tea and they will come to a nice tea party with you. You can even have cakes and cocktails with little umbrellas in them.

Are dream characters harder to have conversations with when lucid or something. In genereal, I mean. Because I talk frequently to my DCs and they are just like ordinary people. But I've never had a LD.

Shanny it is your fear that makes them scary. Your mind wants to validate that fear (or any other emotion you feel in a dream) so it makes your DCs scary. So stop being afraid of them! Much easier said than done, but that is what it will take.
