Thread: Who Better to ask!

I live in the urban area outside of Cleveland, Ohio. In our community they have opened up an Aerbica (coffe house for those not familiar.)
II have went up there a couple of times on thursday because they have the local Chess club that meets there. You do not have to be a member to participate. Aside from that , this is my Idea. At the cooffe shop apart from the main coffee area of tables & couches there is a room set aside for ....well, whatever you would like to reserve it for. Within reason.
I think I am going to reserve the room to discuss Lucid Dreaming. First I am going to run a small advertisement in the local news paper so to get the word out. This is where you all come into play. I am not sure how to word it. It has to relativaley short and to the point.
I need suggestions on how to attract a few people and get them to respond to the add.
Any Ideas?

I could help you make a really cool ad, or maybe a flyer would be better...since I don't know anyone who really reads those newspaper ads much anyway. I think a flyer would be much cooler, would reach a larger amount of people, and not cost anything other than the printing cost...and you could add some neat graphics to it and all?? Unless, you don't want to go through the trouble of posting flyers around.

Great Idea Lucidnina In fact they have a poster board right as you walk in. Which would abviously be a good place to put one.
I have seen some of your art work. And it is much more advanced than my capabilities. So any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have taught my best friend and my brother to Lucid dream. The rest of my family will take a little more work. My point is that at least I know there will be three people there.

EDIT: I live in Columbus...dunno if I'd make it to Cleveland anytime soon (maybe a Sunday afternoon), but the idea of having face-to-face dream workshops is appealing. My LD skills are mediocre, but I have experience with writing workshops (I have a degree in that shit).

Alot of poeple would probally enjoy it actually, i know i would if someone had one in my area, so yeh great idea!! Howetzer

lucidnina i have a special workshop, but only you can come hehe interested

Seeker -Don't you have some frequent flyer points or somthing?

I think the format will be open for discussion. For one the room only occupies around 15 people. So If I do have a lot of interest I will have the room reserverd again and again if that is what it takes.
I'm sure I will probably open the discussion (with some help from Stephen Laberge)

As I was telling Lucidnina, she is going to help with the format of the flyer - the art., I feel it is important to get the point across to spark interest yet not to sound flookey.
[size=18] So members, post what you would like to read on a flyer or an advertisement. try to look at it from someone who has little or no knowledge of LD's

Beautiful women sitting inside a nice spa, drinking endless amounts of exotic drinks, with you in the centre and a line above saying "This could be you!!"

But seriously, make it as realistic as possible. Imo people would get turned off by the fact that LD probally has a reputation as being mysterious and impossible to do.

"Buy an apple, put it at a table, sit down behind the table and look at the apple. Now visualize an apple beside the real apple.
Which apple would you like to eat? No doubt about wich you would choose. Now eat the real apple and say to yourself "Im dreaming"."
Just to point out the difference between waking visualization and the realness of "visualization" that happens during a LD. Just a thought.

I had thought about Pming messages to those on board who live in Ohio, as I do, to invite them to this gathering that I am going to have.
We have more than twenty Ohioans as members. Minus mine and Lucid nina's posts there are less than 200 total.

Have you considered doing a meetup? www.meetup.com I go to a Dreams meetup in my city and it's a great group. In that case, you wouldn't even really have to advertise.

Usually 5-6 people show up at a coffee house once a month, and the moderator either has a few topics to discuss regarding dreams, or people share dreams they want help interpreting, things like that. Last time we talked about how sleep schedules can affect lucid dreaming and then we discussed a few dreams.
