I've been trying to lucid dream for a week, and I got a bit of one last night! It's been hard, but I've forced myself to write in my dream journal every morning. I had one dream where I was dancing with a group of people, but I didn't know the steps. I got really frustrated and said "This is my dream, I should know the choreography!" but didn't become lucid. I could've kicked myself when I woke up and remembered that part of the dream.
But last night I had a dream where I was dancing again, and I remembered about my other dream. Then it hit me-I was dreaming right then! So I did a reality check and when it failed there was a flash of white light. (Is that normal?) Then I was lucid for about a minute before I woke up. I was very excited, and I hope I can become better at this! (Partly for myself, and partly for my friend who is convinced that it's not possible for everyone to lucid dream. I told her that you can train yourself, but she thinks it's an ability that you either have or you don't. For her it comes naturally, so she hasn't ever researched the scientific studies.)
