Question Weird sensation... what is it? has anyone had it?

Hey guys,

I have been meaning to post this before but i never got round to it.

When im in a lucid dream, and i wake up for any reason (including gettting exited, or just waking from an alarm clock) from a lucid dream, and this is ONLY when lucid, for a few seconds, while 'exiting' the dream, i get a wierd sensation. its hard to explain, but i hear a sort of sound like after your ears pop. After this, i will have left the dream. I would be wondering if anyone knew what that actually is, and if anyone else has something similar.

PS. i nearly did a WILD the other day. I got so close to SP, but then i heard the TV. 'DAMMIT! I left the TV on!' But i diddnt! So i ruined it. I GOT SO CLOSE! I did see in a YouTube video about WILDs that before SP you may hear voices, or lots of people talking. Yeah... i did >_<

Like a beeping noise? I get this at times when I'm trying to fall asleep. It is so weird. Right when I am on the verge, bam! A beeping noise or I wake up fully for no reason.

OMG you fell asleep when the TV was on. I have and will not ever be able to do that. I am a very light sleeper. If someone turns the TV on on my floor (in my house, I sleep in the basement, and everyone else is upstairs) then I practically always wake up. Even if it's on for 30 sec. I hate it when my sis turns on the TV while I'm still awake. 100% of the time when that happens I wake up.

By the way, are u a baker?

I suppose its just part of SP or HH, sometimes (or for some people) it comes into sound.

Hold on, this is exiting a dream, right? I get the sort of "leaving woosh" at the end of a lucid, too. It's sort of like the sound that's made at the end of every flashback on Lost, with everything sort of fading to white.

I wouldn't regard it as unusual. I'm sure a lot of people have their own personal "dream exiting sequence," and it's different for everybody.

I did say that is was EXITING the dream, not falling asleep INTO the dream.
Anyways, i dont sleep with the TV on, i only thought that i left it on. So strange.
Also, im not a baker, but i do like baking. Did you ask because of the muffins? I got bored yesterday so i looked through all the smileys. Muffins are one of the many strange ones... look through them yourself..

I didn't mean that you were a baker, just that you like baking. And as for the TV thing this happens to me sometimes. I hate it. Sometimes the feeling is so intense, that I get up to see if the TV's on

I think I know what it might be. Maybe.

Sometimes if I'm on the bus or the train and I start to nod off then wake up again, I hear a sort of whoosh sound as I start to hear again. Obviously when you fall asleep you stop listening to the outside world but then it's sort of like your hearing reactivating. It's like silence in your head then "whoosh-hmmmmmmm" as the engine sound comes back.

Obviously there are no engines in your bedroom so you won't hear the hum, just the whoosh.

hmm thats odd, i have never had a popping noise... the only guess i would have is that you become more conscious of the noises outside your head instead of those that are in it?

Yes... that's happened to me many times. It's as if someone blasted a stadium horn in my head out of nowhere. I'm fully awake in an instant !

I'm guessing that it is an aural version of a Clonic Spasm... where you wake up in midair, and come crashing down onto the bed. (Which I might add, is at least as annoying than the horn going off!) I half suppose that clonic spasms might explain many "possession" phenomena in the old days.

I'm quite familiar with many hypnopompic and hypnogogic (leading to and from sleep) experiences, including SP and OOBEs. Such things have faded off as I've aged... yet my recall and lucidity seem to be holding steady or even growing, This pleases me immensely.
