If I had a lucid dream.

If I had a lucid dream and I didn't remember it or forgot I had one at all, did I have a lucid dream?
The question is What is the question?

Yes, you did. You just didn't remember it. [/end failed attempt at paradox]

Technically yes? I mean, how would you even know that you had one in the first place?

      I guess no then...

If the lucid dream had any sexual distractions, look at ninja's guide to get rid of these.

Moved to General Lucid Discussion. Philosophy is reserved for non-dream-related topics.

If I went to the store for milk, and I forgot going to the store for my milk, did I go to the store for milk?

My interpretation would be, Yes, you went, you simply forgot, so work on recall.

I think maybe why this was posted in philosophy was the whole "If it doesn't exist in my memory did it happen" aspect?
      Yes. Yes it did.

If you're asking if these are considered lucids and should go to a count or something? Well, you attaining lucidity, you simply didn't memorize it. That means you need to work on recall, not on attaining lucidity.

I mean this in a way like, "If you were conscious, but forgot you were conscious afterwards, there was a possibility you would think you were not conscious because you didn't know you were conscious.

So, if you had a lucid dream but forgot it, you would think that during the night you hadn't lucid dreamed because you hadn't known you were lucid? Because you WERE lucid, you simply forgot.

this seemed like a stupid question at first, but now that i think about it, its actually a good question. because i realise that it did actually happen, but you just forgot. but to forget something like that you would have to have not been fully consious, infact probably not consious at all, and the definition of lucid dreaming is consious dreaming. so i would guess that this so called LD is just one of those things that people keep talking about, the dreaming about being lucid thing.

I don't think so, it's very easy to forget a lucid, even if you were fully conscious, if it happened earlier at some point in the night and especially if you ended up losing lucidity. Dream recall and consciousness really aren't the same thing.

Shift, what I'm trying to say is, wouldn't it be better if part of the definition of lucid dreaming was that you remembered it, at least when you woke up. If you forgot the lucid and then advocated for the wrong side (e.g. "I didn't have a lucid!"), what then? Would all the newbies lose interest? If I were new to lucid dreaming and I didn't think that there was a chance I did lucid, but in fact I *did*, I think it would be a let-down. We could give newbs a better glimmer of hope this way, I guess.

Also, I didn't think of that way

I think that is just common sense. You could probably be lucid dreaming every night...you might just not remember it when you wake up.
