I would love some comments on this

An experience I had of a 12:50 pm nap, with the intention of lucid dreaming:
(these are unedited notes... sorry about the poor capitalization and punctuation)

      0. laid down, closed eyes
      1. listened to breathing
(took mental note of depth and frequency)
      2. went off on a thought tangent about a friend of mine
      3. realized i have become distracted
      4. told myself i will be able to think about my friends more deeply,
if i just listen to my breath for a while longer
      5. listen to breath a while longer
(taking same mental notes as before)
      6. go off on another thought tangent about someone
(this one involving visuals- an angular, square face
beckoning to me with his hand)
(it is also a much more lengthly tangent,
proving my point to myself that with a little more breathing focus,
i was indeed able to focus more deeply)
      7. listen to breath again
      8. realize i am staring at my ceiling fan
      9. realize my eyes are closed
      10. stand out of bed, do a reality check
      (i am dreaming)
      11. out of bed i realize i am dreaming of my old dorm
i try to verbally clarify the images and i can see better
but the dreamscape is disappointingly bare
      12. i fade out
      13. i see more hypnagogic imagery that resembles [something]
      14. it becomes that [something] and my eyes seem to be open once again
      (they aren't)
      15. i explore the new dreamscape
      16. fade out
      17. hypnagogic imagery suggests an "x" shape
      18. i think, i will turn it into a huge spider
      19. i think, shit i am afraid of spiders. something else quick!
      20. i think of the plus shape at the end of a swimming pool
      21. i see the plus and i start swimming
      22. quickly fade out
      23. mom calls me for dinner
      24. i get out of bed and go to the bathroom
      25. i feel like i am still seeing with my eyes closed
      26. i look in the mirror
      my eyes are very squinty
another reality check suggests i am STILL dreaming
      27. i walk back to my dream room
my sister is there on a laptop
      28. i tell her to play me some music
      29. she plays music that resembles guitar music. it is nice.
it starts to take on an electronic feel. the music
fills with beeps and electronic music sounds.
anytime i think "this song is nice but it could be improved here,"
it improves there on the next measure
      the song ends.
      30. i tell her to play me some music with lyrics
mother calls me for dinner again
i look downstairs and dad is already eating
dammit he is going to eat all that meatloaf himself! i think
      i shake myself awake
and then realize, it is only 2:00..... NOT real dinner time
      tricked by my own brain

      THE END
There were a few other episodes of dreams, but not worth mentioning.
My biggest find today was thinking of hypnogogic imagery as a real object,
and it eventually became that object,
as if I were looking at it through closed eyes.

      HIT = hypnagogic image technique?
      that's a guess.

wow that is amazing, I have never been able to focus that much during a nap... well I agree with shift! epic use of hypnogogics right there, being able to visualise like that is the key.

oh so these are you're first posts? cool. welcome to DV.
