      Disabilities in a dream

      A thought occured to me.

Does anyone have any disabilities or ailments that cross over into their dream worlds?

i can imagine it would be quite a dreamsign for anyone who was in a wheelchair if say they were able to walk again when they were dreaming or anything like that.

i was kinda worried about posting this as its kind of a thorny issue. any thoughts?

Interesting you should bring this up. It is one of the ways I know I am in a lucid dream. I've been kind of rough on my body for the last 40 or so years. Nothing bad wrong, just accumulated injuries and stuff wearing out. Here are a few of them:

      1) Battery acid in my eyes as a teenager. Now my eyes dry our and get irritated easily
      2) Injuries to a knee that eventually resulted in surgery. My knees hurt often
      3) Arthritis in my ankles. Hurts like a #@%! all the time
      4) Assorted lower back pain

I could go on, but whenever I am in a lucid dream, I experience none of these symptoms. Most of the time, I don't even have to perform a reality check, I just know because these things don't hurt anymore.
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

we could relate this to blind/deaf/mute people...
blind people dream without visual abilities, and if they do, its memories from when and if they did see...or some weird color flashes, etc...

I've got a scar on my legs, serious heartburn (chronic hiatus hernia), and a belly

I've never looked for the scar, but chances are that if I look for it, it'll be there.
The only time I experience heartburn in dreams, is if my physical body is experiencing it

I did notice that the belly is non-existent
I dream as though I'm about 18 years old

Now that I actually think about it, I don't really experience any of my normal aches and pains during my dreams. My sense of feel is usually quite dull in dreams, which could be a part of it, but the pain is certainly not noticeable. Running high-school cross-country for the past 4 years, combined with mountainbiking, has been very hard on my knees and ankles (I'm too young for this!), so there's almost always some amount of discomfort. Sounds like a good dreamsign to me. Might as well take our disadvantages and find some good side to them!
Well life is short, so love the one ya' got, 'cause you might get run over or you might get shot.

i don't know. i had a couple fingers severed last april... they've since grown back (or they were reattached... i can't remember) and when i try to gain some control in LDs by sticking a finger through a hand my hands look perfectly normal... no scars... no crooked fingers... nothing. i think your dreams reflect the mental projection of yourself... for so long my hands were 'normal' and that's how i see them in dreams... therefore it's not so weird when i see my hands as being normal... now fingers aren't as massive as missing a couple of legs but still... it's a physical deformity that doesn't seem to help or hurt my dream consciousness.
      clear eyes. strong hands.

Can't remember what happened to your fingers, eh ?
I know someone who had his leg taken off by a train at the age of about 17.
Apparently, on occasion, he still forgets he's missing his leg, and falls on his arse. The rest of the time, he moves around like an expert, and doesn't use prosthetics.

I'd love to know if he dreams with both legs.... I'll get back to you once I find out
