Looking in a mirror while lucid...

So last night I had a lucid dream where I was in a mall of some sort. I remember rubbing my hands together and trying to focus my attention on a towel, it was really detailed and felt and even smelled like a towel. Anyways, shortly after I found a mirror and looked in it, but what I saw was not my face. It was constantly changing, every few seconds, to a new face. Some of them looked similar to myself, but some of them didn't. The face did mirror what I was doing; I smiled, it smiled; I frowned, it frowned, etc. Anyone else have similar experiences with mirrors?

Mirrors are one of the hard things for dreams to get right. Most people's reflections are pretty strange, seldom ever what they expect to see.

I looked in a full-length mirror once, and it showed me as being made of light, glowing like nuclear fusion (the sun? a star?)

Wow, thats interesting. Have never encountered mirrors in LD. I am currently at the stage of fairly regular vivid LD's and am slowly gaining a level of control. I have mastered flying but am interested in doing other things. I will deffinatly have to try the mirror thing.

I noticed that another member listed one of his goals as walking THROUGH a mirror.

I was once in a nonlucid and looked in a mirror while in the bathroom. My face was much fatter and had one large eye in the middle, like a cyclops or leila from futurama, and I had duke nukem style hair. I was like "oh no I'm fat!", my dad responded from the kitchen "relax son you're only dreaming", I was like "oh, ok". (became lucid)

Yeah I have had interesting experiences with mirrors while lucid. My reflection will often start out completely normal but then my clothes will change or my face will morph into something devilish!

A number of people also find that when they touch a mirror in a lucid dream they get an electric shock. I experienced this myself before knowing it was a common thing.

Mirrors are loads of fun. I haven't walked into one yet but I definitely plan to at some stage whilst lucid

One of the more memorable LDs i have had, was when I found myself in some old wooden rotting shack. After exploring the place, I found a full-length mirror - which started to bow and ripple as I approached it. As I got closer I remember a distinct feel of vibrating energy trying to repel me - similar to when you put the reversed side of magnets together.

When I finally got to look in the mirror I saw I 'shadow-self' - a somewhat 'Golem' like looking character. He wasn't that great and sneered whilst holding a dagger. After given myself a moment to recover I embraced him telling him that I loved him.

Mirrors are very odd things in dreams...

I ´ve never looked in a mirror before, but that sounds really interesting.
I think that´s something I´m gonna try in my next lucid dream.

I often see myself with long hair (my head is shaved in waking life) when I look in a mirror. This happens pretty frequently and for a long time had an obsession with growing my hair long. Unfortunatly the fascist bastards at my jib won't allow such a thing. One time while looking in the mirror I saw me with long hair and then suddenly my reflection morphed into a friend of mine who passed away years ago. Kind of trippy.

For whatever reason, oftentimes when I see mirrors I decide to push through them and go somewhere else. The mirror usually takes on a strange, cool but moldable texture and I can feel it wrap around my face and then suddenly I'm somewhere else.

If I don't decide to do this, my reflection usually looks like me for the most part.

I've seen myself in a mirror many times; usually the reflection is a fatter or thinner "me".

Once though, I was beheaded, but "looked" into a mirror and saw my headless body. Then I looked into another mirror in the same scene, and had a dog's head (which resembled one of the dogs I had at the time).

hahah that would be me! I want to use a mirror as a gateway to go to a parallel society or just a new scene by phasing through the mirror! that would be awesome

I have had a "mirror dream" but i didn't see anything in the mirror. hhmmm maybe I should have turned it around. Of course up until a little while ago I didn't know you could control your actions in a dream.

the exact thing happens if you look in the mirror on acid or shrooms.

this is a PERFECT example of what your face looks like when u look into a mirror

Interesting thread. I've only experimented with mirrors a few times. My hair always seems to be a lot longer than it is in real life.

The few times that I've encountered my reflection in my dreams, I too have experienced something similar. Although, instead of a constantly changing reflection, I got a more solid one that still did not resemble me at all. For example, I remember once that I looked into the bathroom mirror and saw that I was African American....In reality, I am clearly not. I had an afro

Yeah, it's sorta strange, isn't it?

Now that I think about it, I have never encountered a mirror in my dreams. I'm trying to get back into LDing, so I suppose I'll make it my first goal to find a mirror. I'll post results as soon as I do it.
Before you can become conscious in your dreams, you should become conscious of your reality. Dreaming is magical, but a dream will never reach the beauty of the world that surrounds you.

One time in an LD I got the acid trip face-morphing effect, but the other two times I've encountered a mirror in an LD I used it shapeshift in a more fictiony manner rather than just wanting to be another form, by using my reflection to choreograph the transition. When I see mirrors in my non-lucid dreams, they tend to be pretty accurate. A few times in memory I've seen the wrong person in my reflection, but I know myself to have actually been that person in the dream beforehand.

Well i still havn't had a LD yet but i got told if you look into a mirror it can make you relize your dreaming, or atleast help you relize... In my dream last night i looked into a mirror and just saw myself looking back so i just carried on in my dream... I read that i should look into a mirror every now and then in real life to get used to doing it for when i dream, do you think i got so used to doing it that i got my reflection perfect in my dream?

      Weird :/
