      my LD: question

last night i finally had another LD, i dont know how long it lasted though, i cant remember. i was flying in a normal dream, then i thought, "why dont i be lucid?", it was really weird, it was almost as if i knew i was dreaming the whole time, so i ended up being lucid, but the moment i became lucid, i started falling, i couldnt fly, i shut my eyes as i was falling and i opened them again, but instead of seeing my dream i saw my bedroom, i imediately blinked slowly and i was back in the dream falling, then i started flying again, in control. next thing after that i remember is in a room talking to people (non lucid), i must have ended the REM period and started new one later or something.

when i got up, i was soooo tired. ive been tired after LD a few times as well. so my question is, do LDs make you tired?

I wouldn't make that REM period assumption, there's really no way to know, and dreams can end for any number of reasons. You also dream in NREM. Maybe you ended a NREM period. It's impossible to tell, so I always play it safe by realizing that there's just no way you can know and not assuming.

LDs always hype me up. I feel very very energized after having LDs.

Same here, I get excited when I wake up from LDs but there are definitely some where I'm tired in the dream and lose lucidity. And you have no way of knowing if you ended the REM period so like shift said, dont even think about it/make assumptions because theres no way of knowing.

      oh right thanks.

and i was just thinking about the tired thing there. maybe LDs are tiring because they are taking away some real sleep time (when i say real sleep time i mean sleep when your mind is alseep, i.e. unconscious)
do you think that might be it?

I don't think so. I think the majority of lucid dreams make people feel refreshed and awake and energized (it's usually naturals who I read about being exhausted), and with the wide spectrum of consciousness and awareness that people can have while sleeping, I don't know why simply being aware of the fact that you're dreaming would be so incredibly detrimental as to make you feel exhausted when you wake up.

oh right, i just thought that being conscious in a dream would be the same as being conscious in real life, therefore lucid dreaming (conscious dreaming) is the same as being awake, and not getting proper sleep.
