Was I lucid? I think so.

I recently had my first experience with attaining lucidity. It was unexpected really. The dream took place at a party, it was mostly me talking to my friends and stuff. Once the party died down, is when it got weird. I went into a bathroom and kept staring at my face in the mirror. I had some sort of... tentacle growing out my head. I kept asking myself, "Have I always had this? How did I get this? Was it from an accident?" Then I thought to myself, after what seemed like hours of contemplating what this thing was.. "This can't be real.." Instantly after I thought that, it came into my mind to try flicking a light switch. I did so, and once the light did not come on, BAM! I felt completely different. No longer was I watching the dream play out in my head like a movie, I felt like I WAS in control. I remember once I felt that initial... feeling... I started floating around my room (at first the party was at a friends, after checking myself out in the mirror I ended up at my house). I remember vividly yelling out "IM IN A DREAM!" I was so excited, after about what seemed like 30 seconds or so of flying in my room I woke up. I decided to record this in my dream journal. Was this my first brush with lucidity? I know it has to be, Ive never felt this before. Sorry, but I had to get this out its been on my mind all day. I sure can't wait to be more in control and prolong this amazing dream phenomenon.

Yup, you popped your lucid cherry! Congrats on that!

Just for future reference. anytime you realize you are dreaming, no matter if its just for a second... you had a lucid dream... thats what's lucid dreaming is.. knowing that you are dreaming, while the dream is taking place..

      Good job!
