      Fractured dreams.

Lately I've been having strange hallucinations - I don't know if you could call them dreams - when I'm in bed. It takes me a very long time to fall asleep (30m-60m) usually, but now it takes even longer, and I've started having almost-dreams. It's a bit like the hallucinations of SP; I see things like books (dark, murky, but clear enough to read things), and feel people reading them, or see and feel people playing cards. I can still roll around in bed during this time. I am almost always aware that these are hallucinations, but any attempt to control it results in it fading, and then disappearing if I continue. I don't think I could control these, though, as I am never a character in them. They are merely thoughts that I hallucinate, rather than dreams, which I am ALWAYS a character in. I also often sit up during the middle of these hallucinations, feeling like 10 minutes have passed, only to realize it's been 3 hours.

Sorry, the above paragraph is a garbled mess. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down. Stupid English language, not having the proper words to describe dream feelings. Anyways, does anyone else experience this, and know a way to stop it or turn it into a lucid dream?

      Thanks :insomnia:

Sounds like good ol' hypnagogic hallucinations. Sometimes HH can be very intense, like when it's coupled with sleep paralysis, or it can be milder, like when your just falling asleep. I get this a lot, especially when I'm sleep deprived or if I've been up tossing and turning.

If you want to turn these "visions" into a lucid dream I HIGHLY suggest you do not try to do it when your first falling asleep. Get atleast 4 -6 hours of sleep in, wake yourself up and then try going back to sleep. Your head should still be sleepy yet you should have more clarity then when you first fall asleep. Once you start seeing things at this point, keep lying still until you can't even feel yourself in bed or you feel the "shift".

Look around the WILD forum for some tips on transitioning HH into a LD. Good Luck

I didn't think you could HH without being paralyzed.

      oooooooooooooooo

      i get this too.

sometimes it's awful, like i get uneasy feelings that just take over duing this so called HH and I actually have to shout out and flop about violently a couple of times to make it go away, lol.

but othertimes i just try to think of something nice and others HH can just take over, resulting in, restles/no sleep, or bad dreams/and waking up feeling like i wasn't sleep atal. Which feels like such a waste of time and sleep, specially if i gotta get up early.
