How can I accomodate LD-ing into my life?

I find it impossible to get 8.5 hours of sleep these days since I work a full time job, making it difficult for me to WBTB. I also have many things on my mind going on at once during the day, and this keeps me from doing frequent RCs.

I am very familiar with WBTB + DILD/WILD techniques and have successfully attained lucidity with both, although most frequently with DILD.

My biggest obstacle at the moment is that I have to wake up for work at 6:45 every morning. This would mean that I would have to wake up at 4:00am to WBTB and at that time I am usually WAY too sleepy and unfocused to DILD, let alone attempt a WILD.

Do you guys have any tips from your experiences that may help me? I just need to find a way to feel awake and refreshed enough to WBTB.

Also, if you have good experience and techniques for LD-ing during afternoon naps, please let me know of those as well; I have tried and failed at all attempts but one over the past 2 years.

      Thanks a lot,

My advice would be to try to set an alarm for 2:30 hours into your sleep, then stay up for about 20-30 minutes and think about Lucid Dreaming.

When you go back to bed, just focus your thoughts on Lucid Dreaming. Just tell yourself over and over that you will remember your dreams, and that you will remember to do a reality check. I have found that autosuggestion with me, works quite well.

As far as afternoon naps go, I have had many LD's during those. Many times during the nap it doesn't take me long to hit a dream--probably the with in the first 30 minutes of me sleeping i would have a dream/ld.

The bottom line is finding a technique that works for you--with the current situation you are in. Life is going to change on you, you just have to figure out the way to adapt to it, to where you can still have Lucid Dreams.. To give you a boost of confidence, it is possible, you just have to find the way

      Hope this helps

Just pay attention to your dreams.
You automatically wake up after each rem period.
Most times you just forget it.
I find that I wake up at 4am like clockwork nowadays -always after a dream.
Using Laberges mantra (When I dream I will remember I'm dreaming) as you fall asleep will increase your awareness when you wake.
      Lucid Dreams:-
      MILD/DILD: 79
      WILD: 13
      DEILD:13
      (TOTAL: 108 )

I wake up at 6:45am, also. I mainly only do WBTB/WILD on the weekends, or the rare weeknights where I get to bed before 11pm.

Like Moonshine said, just train yourself to notice your natural midnight awakenings. Wake up after each one, jot down some notes about the dream, then return to sleep. You don't need to do a full, hour long WBTB. Check out Laberge's MILD method:

The key is to wake up briefly in the night, repeat your intention, then visualize yourself becoming lucid in a dream. You don't visualize it like you would in a WILD. You visualize it only so you remember to do it. It is similar to trying to remember to buy milk at the store. You tell yourself to buy milk next time you're at the store, then picture yourself doing it. This is how we remember to do things, and it carries over into sleep.

I have a similar tight schedule - go to bed at 8:00-9:30, and wake up at 4:30. I usually avoid doing WBTB when I know I must wake up at 4:30, which means every weeknight. I'm currently just waking up at preset times and writing down dreams - this doesn't seem to impact my sleep, at least not noticeably.

On these weeknights, after waking up for writing down my dreams, I use the DILD+MILD method. Seems to be at least mildly successful so far
      DILD: 9 | WILD: 0
