I RC in dreams, but I still dont realise i'm dreaming!!? :S

I reality check a lot throughout the day. And lately i've been reality checking during my dreams too! But even though I reality check during the dreams, I still dont realise i am actually dreaming!!
      Am I doing something wrong?
And other times, like when my dog (which passed away 3 years ago) appeared in my dream, I thought ''hmm thats weird, shes dead, this cant be reality'' but then I just kind of forgot about it! lol. And other times when weird things appear in my dreams, i know its not right and I realise it cant be real, but i still dont realise I am dreaming!!!
      Its weird!

Its that normal? Will I eventually realise that I am dreaming after RC?

Ps. I hope this is in the correct section of the forum! i wasn't quite sure where to post questions like this!

What is your process for reality checking? Sounds like you're more in the habit of just going through the motions, but not really THINKING about what the results mean as they're happening. Also, are you making sure to stabilize your dreams so that you don't forget that you're dreaming?

It might help to say if you're talking about an unconscious RC or conscious one after realising you're dreaming. An unconscious one ie: your brain is on autopilot and does one on it's own may not give you the correct result to become lucid, but a conscious one, almost like a confirmation that you're dreaming will almost certainly work in my experience. The conscious one is just a back up though just to make absolutely sure at the time.

Well I am kind of new to lucid dreaming. I've only ever had one, and i woke myself up by mistake! And I havn't had another one since!

I dont really know if I am doing it right lol. I just read up about it. And what I usually do is keep asking myself throughout the day 'Am I dreaming?' and I look at clocks and my hands and writing to check if it looks the same each time I look at it. I just do things like that.. is that right?
And I usually write 'Lucid' on the palm of my hand and look at it throughout the day to remind me to reality check.

And now in my dreams I do that same thing. I look at my hand, and I reality check. But I dont realise i am dreaming... is that weird?
      It's hard to explain

Have you read the reality check tutorial on dreamviews? I wrote it, if you click the teeth in my signature it'll take you to the tutorial. I highly stress the mental reality check, both as a default mindframe but also while physically doing your reality checks. If you've read the tutorial and you're confused, ask me to clarify, but if you haven't hopefully it will be able to explain what I mean. I also wrote this which explains my way of RCing a little more than the tutorial, which is written for a more generalized "HERE IS HOW TO RC" versus "HERE IS HOW SHIFT RCs"

It's really not that weird or unusual to have the problem you're having. A lot of people do it when they are reality checking habitually. Just make sure to try to put in more of that conscious effort and awareness of not just reality checking, but also REALLY being critical and asking yourself, WHY am I reality checking? WHAT inspired me to reality check? AM I dreaming? If I don't think I am, how can I be 100% positive?

Do not only just repeat the reality check a few times a day; try to experience the waking reality as a dream when you perform the reality check. Try to feel fascinated about the dream world and feel that you are conscious about this. Feel how that feels. This is especially successful when done focusing on often occurring dream signs or when such thorough reality check is done triggered by such dream sign. And remember that dream signs are personal.

      Hmm..

      This is bad.

I had problems like you when i started to know about LD's in 2007...

Now, my big problem is that when i see dream signs i just think "Maybe i'm too high" and this ruins everything :X

Okay... So now i have another Problem!! :/

For the last 2 nights. I had dreams ABOUT Lucid Dreaming! But i still didn't realise I was dreaming!

In my dream, I was talking to my mum about lucid dreaming, I was telling her all about it, and how you can learn it, and how to reality check. But the whole entire time I was talking and thinking about it in my dream, I still didn't realise i was draming!!!

      Its so weird!!!

Actually, a dream where you talk about lucid dreaming doesn't necessarily have to be a very obvious dream. I assume that the dream you mentioned above could as well have been something that you did IRL. Therefore, a dream about LD isn't really something that should make you more aware than any other dream, in my opinion. If you were attacked by green pigs with yellow light swords, and you don't realize you are dreaming... Then you can start worrying :p. Your mind seems to be very concentrated on lucid dreaming, though. That means you are definitely on the right track. Just put alot of effort into your RCs.

      Best of luck!

Don't worry hun this sort of thing is common even for experienced lucid dreamers. I've dreamed exactly the same thing only even worse. I went one step further than you and told my mum she should be doing a reality test during one of my dreams lol! I've also complained to a DC about how I didn't manage to get lucid last night. I've also stood and looked around in a dream thinking about what I would do if this was a dream and wished it was because it would be such a cool place to get lucid in. I've also thought to myself 'wow this is the sort of thing that happens in my dreams'. All without getting lucid!

It's a actually a good sign and indicates that you are getting close to achieving lucidity. Shift has given you good advice especially regarding the mental RCing. Don't just go through the motions of reality testing. Make sure you really question your situation every time you RC. Also, make sure it's digital clocks you look at and not analogue as analogue clocks function completely normally in my dreams but digital clocks/watches never function normally.

It will happen eventually. A reality test will suddenly fail and most likely it will be when you least expect it! Keep us posted with your progress

      This has happened to me...

This one time I was dreaming, and I look down at my hands. I noticed very quickly that I had 6 fingers. My dream self said "I'm dreaming guys!". Then i look around and all my friends look at their hands and say "What are you talking about?!". I say "If you have 6 fingers you're dreaming!". Then I wake up... Stupid huh?
