      Post It's Been A While

Hi, I used to post on here a little bit several years ago. Since then, my life has changed and lucid dreaming became much less important to me because of all the challenges of life.

However, since the time I've been away, I've had some of my most incredible lucid dream experiences of my life. I've written several of them down, but really, my life just moves to fast for me to have time to keep track of it all.

I'm basically cursed with a lack of sleep these days; I'm lucky to get between 5 and 6 hrs a night. But in a way, it's like I've got the whole Wake, Back To Bed method built right in.

Nowadays, I'll fall asleep for maybe 3 or 4 hours, then wake up and sometimes fall back to sleep about an hour later. I'll sleep for maybe an hour, wake up, etc. So by the end of the night, I end up with pretty good chances of a lucid dream, and I have them a lot more now than I have in the past. Probably an average of 1-3 a week, though most of them are nothing special.

I do want to tell the readers of this though, that as you continue to get better at lucid dreaming, you'll start to become more adventurous and more capable, kind of like Neo from The Matrix. But you may also become introspective and use the dreams to explore your unconscious mind. That's where it really gets interesting. In a lot of my LD's lately, instead of seeing how fast I can fly without freaking out, or things like that, I'll often just calmly interact with the dream characters and try to have real conversations, to try to find out more about my subconscious.

And this is important. If a dream character gets serious, and tells you to listen to them, then play along. I've found that whenever I try to outsmart them or get in their way, things go really bad!

Anyways, I don't know how often I'll be on here, but just wanted to update.

This brings up some very interesting points, and give me back some of the nostalgic magic LDing had for me before. LDing can be fun and existential, that's to be sure. Glad you are posting here again. I would suggest to keep a consistent journal no matter how busy you are. As an experienced LDer, does it make a difference to you, would you say? And are you keeping a journal?

Well, I sometimes will write a quick summary of what happened if it's one of those 2 or 3 times a year super long/realistic lucid dreams, but most of the time no, not till just recently. Now I sort of keep a journal, but it's not a nightly documentation of my dreams. It's more for a few noteworthy events.

In the past I actually haven't noticed a difference in the frequency of lucid dreaming from keeping a journal, but then again, I've almost always found it easy to remember many of my dreams anyway
