      Details in LD's

okay i've never had a long lucid dream like some people have had... but once i had a lucid dream and i decided to see how "real" it was.. i teleported myself to a beach, reached down and grabbed a handful of sand, observed it, and was amazed. It was just like real sand. I was expecting it to be more of a goo because i didnt think the brain could process each individual grain of sand.. but it did.. i then went into the water and even the water was so cold and real.

Lucid dreams are really amazing..i wish i could have 5-6 hour lucid dreams like some people claim..any tips? my first goal is to make out with michelle rodriguez possibly have sex if the excitement doesnt wake me lol

      Welcome to DV.

Generally, two things make for a longer lucid dream: stability, and becoming lucid as early as possible. For a very long dream, you want to become lucid around the time that the REM period is at its peak, so probably 7-8 hours into the night.

So I would recommend DEILD, WILD, or autosuggestion that increases false awakenings. So if you're successful with these, with practice, you can have lucid dreams that are on average 20-30 minutes, up to an hour or longer.

As far as dreams that last 5-6 hours, technically speaking the brain doesn't have dream states that long, but you can try looking into a dream control technique known as time dilation, where you stretch time itself within a dream to make it last longer. Beyond Dreaming might be a good place to start with that.

MILD is great too. Especially in the long term. If and when it becomes habit, you'll pretty much be able to LD at will using MILD. The hard part is just being consistent with it long enough that it sinks in, which can take a while.
