      Another world?

I think we all agree that dreaming is like going to another world, but the dreamworld change all the time and depending on what's going on in our lives, our dreams will be different every night.

I wonder how it would be to return to the same world every night, a world where everything is possible, of course. But still nothing changes, the environments stay the same from dream to dream.
One example would be: You remember a nice place you visited last night, and you want to return there. Now all you have to do, is, take your car (or whatever ) and drive to that location

But I don't know, maybe that would be boring?
anyways, does anyone here experience this?
      hey

It sounds meshugge, but I think it would be neat. Kind of like living in two worlds, having two separate lives -- literally. It might be boring to some who prefer being able to go to all different places, but for me, I think it would be fun. You could build up a lot of stuff in the one other world.

I've had dreams in the same location before several nights in a row (not for more than about 5 days). The scenery still changed slightly from night to night, like some tress would get bigger or move around, or there would be a building on the horizon that never used to be there. I don't think your subconscious memory is detailed enough to repaet the same setting exactly from night to night, but it can do pretty well.

Also, if you're fully lucid, you can change your surroundings back to a dream you had before.

Hmm,.. That would be a problem.
I do realize that returing to the same world every night would be somewhat impossible.

I've had dreams, non-lucid ones, where I return to the same place or a similar place.

thats neat that you brought that up! That would be really cool! Last night I had three seperate dreams with their own story and characters and everything but they all took place in the same building. The dreams were seperated by wakefullness too (WBTB). Too bad none were lucid though...

seems like a pretty nice experience. It would be cool if we could escape to some dream land every night to escape the pressures of society. sorta of like another world. During the day we would actually look forward to sleeping.

I have returned to one particular world quite a few times, returning to exact places can be tricky but with practice it can be done too. To me the dreaming is another world, its infinite in size so getting back to a place you have been might be tricky considering how big the place is =) you have to get a feel for the place, its like knowing how to get someplace but you dont know the directions to it like street names or landmarks. Another trick is to call for help. A horse a dragon, a giant falcon or a cabby that dosent speak your language. Ask them to take you to the place you were, describe it to them and perhaps they might know the way... There are also stories of cities ones that dreamers can congregate in but thats a whole nother topic =D Rahaul that is how I experience the dream world, its a real place to me as only "Now" is real and yeah I do look foward to dreaming but I learned the hard way that you have to find balance with the two. Dont neglect one or the other.

I've had recurrent dreams, but it's more like I return to the same dream, not the same place

I have a question for you Serinanth...

Do you believe the kind of dream world you experience is completely created only by the REM sleep in your brain. An entire completely vivid world created by your brain and your subconcious, or do you think that your having some sort of astral experience into another world, seperate from the normal dreaming experience created by humans REM brain activity. You should get a CAT scan or an MRI on your head when you sleep, to see if you have unnormal amounts of brain activity. In someways I think it would be hard for a brain to produce such worlds as you've described in different posts. I think you might be having some sort of OBE/astral experience. What do you think?

      hmm... 2nd world?

I've had a lot of dreams with the same scenery, but the biggest recurring details are my DCs.

I have some DC that are in just about all of my dreams... one that follows me everywhere and one (to whom i am apparantly married or in a really serious relationship with in my dreams) that is in all of the ones that take place in the future (unless it's somewhere with a lot of destruction).

I think that my "dream world" is a whole other reality all together, and if i took the time, i could actually travel to the places (by flight for time issues) in my dreams from one space to another.

I've always thought it be neat to manifest one's dreaming life into a rich and static world... Something that oscillates in coherent thought with the waking life and such... And crossing over the border where your waking body strives more to be in the dream world... And eventually, it is the dream world that becomes your reality of living. Man, that's be awesome.

I think if it was possible for the human body to survive without need of excercise or external nourishment we would all choose to live in our dreams. I mean lets face it, it's far better than this place we inhabit. We could do anything our entire lives.
So...which is real, the pink one or the black one?

      yea but.......

i've had different dreams that take place at the same location. Or i've had dreams in my house, it doesn't look like my house in my dream, but i know it's my house. Dreaming and the whole two worlds type of thing, if that were the case, then what would you define as reality? something to think about. Maybe you'd prefer to sleep the rest of your life cuz you like that reality better. Then you'd start to think of death.

I believe that the real world is necessary to be a comparison to our dream world. Without reality (I'm not going to go into any debates on the subject) we wouldn't be so excited about dreams. Hence, I like both worlds.

Mmm, i experience recurring dream locations very frequently. In fact, in most of my dreams (non-lucid) I manage to visit this one place (a local train station) at some stage throughout. It's not always exactly the same, with some roads being longer some times, new shops appearing, etc. but it's definitely the same place. It's actually not that interesting, maybe because i've always tended towards resurring dreams. I'm naturally repetitive i guess.

a few months ago, I had a reoccuring dream location for like 2 weeks in a row... I was at a ski resort with tons of snow. but this helped give me lucidity i guess, because it was in the summer, and it wasn't hard to sense that something was wrong in my dream

The first step to having a reacurring dream scene is to prepare your mind to engage the proper technique when you become lucid.
As you become efficiant at lucid dreaming, opon becoming lucid you make a location. (It helps to name this location) for your mind to easily except this fact when you are lucid.
Prior to going to sleep, imagine this place in your mind (the location, not the whole scene) kind of like in the Matrix, at the telephone. In fact that would be a perfect example. Lets say your Location is a phonebooth. Well opon becoming lucid you call for this locality. when it appears you use the phone to access the already preconcieved reaccuring dream scene you had already incubated in your mind prior to becoming lucid.

I like to use a door as my location. that way all you have to do is open it. But picking up a phone would work as well. In fact anything works if you believe that it will

that's true. also you can spin. In my dreams, i just walk there. One lucid dream i remember i walked out my front door. and thought of where i wanted to go, then i went there. or you could fly there, that's always fun.

now, what i would do if i ever became lucid again, i would use the door technique (probably because it's most reliable) and i would go to outer space! as far out as my imagination would let me. maybe, we could find an answer as to why we live through lucid dreaming... you know, the one question no one can answer.

I've had many non-lucid dreams that have occured in a location I have been before. A long time ago, I had a dream of being in a French ferry port, or something similar. I didn't remember that dream until two years later, I was in the same place again. Everything looked almost the same as it did two years before.
