WBTB: A couple minutes or a few hours?

I just really want a lucid dream tonight/tomorrow morning. WBTB seems like an easy choice.

I was reading Exploring the World of Lucid dreaming, and I noticed a technique that said to wake up two hours early, go about your business for 2 hours, and then go back to bed. Apparently, this is a very reliable way to get long and easily memorable lucid dreams.

Now I understand the book was made in 1990, and LaBerge practically pinoneered most of the techniques on this site, but is this the right way to do things? Is this an early form of WBTB, or a different technique alltogether? Which is more reliable overall?

      Thanks everyone.

      I just love that banana.

Neither is the wrong technique I think. Try both and see what works best for you. Personally I only get up for a minute or two and go straight to the MILD technique. I've tried to stay up for 30 minutes or so, but it took me another 30 minutes to fall back asleep.

Yeah its different for each person, just try each out and see. If your going to stay up for a few minutes try to take a cold shower, I haven't done that many times but each time I did I got a lucid dream. Good luck!

I find a few minutes for me leaves me too sleepy and I don't have the wakefulness to commit myself to anything.

Personally I think my best choice would be to do what the above poster said and get a quick shower. keeping the TIME awake low, but increasing the bodily wakefulness. Also a good show tends to soften up my muscles and make me relaxed. and if it's hot it speeds up the heartrate making you really tired but in a body tired way rather than mind.
      good times
