Whenever I watch TV and fall asleep with it on, chances are I just might wake up in a couple of hours. After waking from sleeping about 4 hours, I went back to sleep. I tried to meditate for a while but got tired and quit. After waking up I realized I had a lucid dream but it was very short. It went like this: I was walking down a street. I waited for a car to cross and as I crossed I noticed I was carrying a gun in one of my hands. At this point I knew I was dreaming since I don't own a gun. I decide to test it out and hit a stop sign. As soon as I pulled the trigger, I hear proceeding gunshots (From the police). I got hit by a car speeding by really fast but I just started floating up like there was no gravity. This floating thing has also happened when I had other lucid dreams of me and another car. I wokeup soon after. What can I do to keep from getting excited/scared in order to increase the longevity of my lucid experiences? It just all felt too real to even distinguish from reality. Also, I have not been keeping a dream journal as of late but I have noticed that I have been recalling my dreams with ease...should I use my dream journal? |

Yeah no problem! Im open to any and all ideas just how would I keep from waking up? It seems like the WBTB method is most effective for me meaning I can lucid dream everyday I think. |

Getting overexcited is a problem which, it seems to me, passes as you start having lucids more often. When I first started, when I realized I was dreaming, it was like "holy crap I'm dreaming yea!!!". Now it's just "oh, cool, I'm dreaming." I think the real reason being too excited wakes you up is that when most people get excited that they are lucid, it draws their attention from the dream, thus, the dream dissapears and you wake up. If you learn to not let your emotions draw from your attention in the dream, you can experience them fully without destabilizing the dream/waking up. |

I also agree with supernova. Most people new to lucid dreams usually get too excited when they become lucid, resulting in them waking up prematurely. This is not a problem you will need to worry about. After you start to have more lucids(like supernova said) you will not be like "OMG IM DREAMING!!! |
