What kinds of things are you talking about? Physical things? Situational things? Mental blocks?

I know that one universal block to LDing is stress. Stress, lack of motivation, lack of practice, lack of consistency, and giving up too easily. The one thing that hurts the most is when someone tries for a few days, but gives up because it's not happening yet.

Physically speaking, poor nutrition, less sleep, stress, poor health, and lack of awareness (going through the day like a zombie) is detrimental to lucid dreaming.

Not keeping a dream journal is bad. Pretty much anything that hurts your quality of sleep (like an uncomfortable bed).

That's all I can think of for now.

Hmm consumables....good question. There isn't really any formal research on that, I'm afraid. I do know that there are a lot of supplements and things which increase lucidity and vividness in dreams.

Generally speaking, all I can say is that anything which doesn't feed your brain would probably be bad. So junk food instead of healthy food, for example. You need to have a sharp mind and a well-fed brain in order to get lucid.

I don't smoke, but I have had a few lucid dreams while drunk before, so I know it's possible. Being drunk did kind of lower the quality of the dream, but it was worth it for the novel experience (long story short I got into a fight in the dream, passed out, and got revived by a dream character, lol).

Amazing Dreams, is that a book, or...?
