I keep on having fake lucids :(

Dreams where I know I'm dreaming, but don't have that lucid feel and awareness.

I've had them pretty much daily in the past week, and I had four last night! In one of them my behavior was so off kilter it wasn't even funny.

How do I fix this? I just started doing RC every hour this past week too BTW, which really upped their frequency.

This is actually very very very good thing! You're already starting to rationalize your dreams, you're increasing your lucidity with each night! My guess is, LD will happen to you soon!
Come on! What if Martin Luther King said: "I kinda have a dream... nah, I don't wanna talk about it."

Well, as reecejones87 would put it, this is layer 0 of a lucid dream. The layer where you just have a slight awareness but not full understanding. In my opinion it still is an LD though.

I've had A LOT of those, and those are not lucid dreams. Don't scare off the newbies. I mean, yeah, some low level of awareness exists, but it can not be compared to a see, hear, touch, smell, taste control lucid dreaming!!

well I've had full control and absolutely no senses, so you can't define lucidity that way, unless having control doesn't completely make it lucid either.

Ok, let's put it this way: it's a lucid dream if you're aware of the ability to control the dream. I don't think @lilacalil experienced that awareness.

I think you should watch the 5 layers of a lucid dream video by reecejones87. he does a better job of explaining it than I ever could. But being lucid literally means being enlightened. In this respect just knowing you are asleep and dreaming makes it a lucid. Control is just for those lucid savvies.

IDK, in all of them I know I'm dreaming and have sometimes done things to control my dreams, such as turn back time to save a DC, fly through a roof and in my latest, kill somebody because they wouldn't do what I asked IDK if I count these as lucid as none of these dreams have my personality in them, ESPECIALLY the last.

Your original post and this one seem to be in contradiction. Anyhow, since it is hard to explain the amount of awareness you had, I stand by my first post. You had a low level of awareness, but it would be a shame to think this was a lucid dream, cause it's not near it's full potential. You said it yourself, you haven't experienced the awareness, so I figure this was all happening sorta automatically?

this is why I always push the layer concept, because it explains how you can have a lucid that wasn't quite as high of a level as other lucids. please, both of you, watch reecejones87's layers of a lucid dream videos on youtube before you come back with a rebuttal. It can only help.

I've seen those, and personally I think they really overcomplicate things. Lucidity is for the most part a black and white thing, either you're lucid or you're not. This doesn't effect how aware you are, or how much control you have, or anything else. It's simple, either you are conciously aware of the fact that you are dreaming, or you are not.

      There's my take on things...

yea, I agree, but I also agree a little with luanne that calling everything lucid could make people stop looking forward to lucidity because they think they've experienced it fully when they haven't. But yea, black and white is WAY simpler and also goes along with the definition of lucidity.

Lucidity simply means you know your dreaming which Lilicalil did so he was lucid and like Xedan said he was at a low level of lucidity but still kind of lucid

I'm still waiting for lilacalil to answer my previous post.

Cause I'm speaking from my own experience. There are often dreams where I'm saying: "yes, this is a dream, it's not real", and I get relaxed, but this is happening automatically, subconsciously, without the awareness of here and now! This is what I call a low level lucidity, and no, in my opinion, it is NOT a lucid dream.

how can you be lucid and not have lucidity? I think theres a really old thread on here (got to it through google WAY before I decided to join) about "fake lucids" where you are dreaming about being lucid, and the final result is that this was a form of lucidity.

As others have stated, if you knew you were dreaming, then you were Lucid. That is the core definition of Lucid Dreaming: to know you are dreaming; to be aware of the dream state. I apply this question to your first post; Did you KNOW you were dreaming? From what I see, you only dreamed that you were Lucid, and you didn't truly know. Hence, it was not an LD. No layers, no False Lucidty. You simply weren't Lucid.

This is what I asked myself too, because being Lucid without Lucidity does not make sense in the slightest.

From what I have seen and from what I gather from this thread, it's my opinion that the Layer concept seems to, and should only, apply when you really ARE aware that you're dreaming. That is only my assumption as I haven't watched the YouTube video being brought up by Xedan. It would be much appreciated if you could post a link to it.

Xedan, I PRAY you're not talking about the thread I think you're talking about, because in that thread I'm pretty sure the majority of us all agreed that using the term "False Lucids" would only confuse new members that need to know how to classify their dreams. The member who posted it was...I think Mario-something.
