time according to steven leberge is nearly the same in most dreams as it is in real time. However, this is not absolute. There have been many documented dreams where the time is to a more or less degree distorted. |

Is normal time relevant in dreams or could you possibly slow speed up time in the dream so you could be dreaming for 2 years and only asleep for an hour? |

You can have lucid dreams that seem like they take years, but that's just because our abilities to judge how long something takes are not very accurate for any time period greater than 90 seconds. This inaccuracy can be greatly exaggerated in dreams by a number of things, such as false memories and sudden shifts in time of day. |

You could dream of a two-year period, but it would be full of holes and plot skips, and the amount of time actually spent conscious in the dream would still equal about an hour. It could appear to be more if you accelerate time in your dream, but you cannot stretch dream time to any significant degree. Therefore, if you were to "live a lifetime" in a lucid, you could technically do it, but it would not be anything like what you have in mind. You would catch a fleeting glimpse of a few critical moments, only to be whisked away in another mass scene change. |
