Games actually used to be one of my dreamsigns. Every dream was a game, ranging from, yes, real life TF2 to playing checkers. What you've suggested seems unattainable until we figure out how to hook the human brain up to a computer.

Isn't the imagination the foundation of dream control?

Noogah, that spoiler almost crashed Firefox. You could have at least made it smaller.

Conkt is right, you need to be able to do this game thing unless you hook the human brain up to a computer.

With a few very experienced dreamers, you could do this with shared dreams.

Shared dreams? I don't think those are possible. Has anyone successfully done one?

If you look around, there's a lot of people on DV who have had them. Lurk around the beyond dreaming forum for a bit.

Wrong. there's a lot of people on DV who have claimed to had them. They have no backing, nor have they every been scientifically backed. It is extremely unlikely that they are real. People have always been making things up about dreams without any proof (every dream is a wish fulfillment, dreams are signs from "god.") Rather than say "I don't know", must people just make things up. I find it sad that a forum dedicated to exploring dreams and learning more about this fascinating state of mind would foster such silly and primitive concepts.[/Rage]

Double post because I can. The brain isn't hooked up to a computer, the computer is just scanning the brain. 1-way, not 2-way. The computer needs to send information to the brain and vice-versa for this to work, but what you posted is a step towards this type of technology.

Imagination is the foundation of most of dreaming, which is why I don't understand why some people are hyper-skeptical on these forums when people start talking about shared dreams, possibilities, etc.

It's like they want to take all the fun out of dreaming, imagination, and ultimately life. Personally, I'd rather have a blast exploring "shared dreams" in my own lucids (even if they are completely the creation of my own mind) than simply closing the door on that kind of experience because I'm convinced it's not possible.

But hey, to each their own and if someone doesn't want to have fun with their own imagination then that's their loss.

Anyhow, regarding the topic of this thread I think it's a cool idea.

I'm not trying to take the fun out of dreaming. But I don't want to try doing something like lucid games (which are pretty much shared dreams) when it probably isn't possible!

If I could lucid dream frequently, things like flying, the monthly dream challenges, and those things would probably more than planning a shared dream with a friend when it probably wont be successful.

Ok, I'm going to be very skeptical here.

Lets say shared dreaming is 100% impossible.

You and your friend talk about about a shared dream, a fight lets say, plan it, and fall asleep to dream it.

You both have lucid dreams, fighting the other person. They are seperate (The other person was not affecting your dream, you were just dreaming about him) When you wake up, you both have awesome dreams that you can talk about.

You may not have shared a dream, but you shared the experience. Sounds like fun to me.

Fair enough, but 1. It is not shared dreaming 2. It doesn't support the idea of "lucid games" and 3. You can do that with any DC.

What Fabio suggested is a very cool idea, and I've heard it done before. However, it is likely the closest to shared dreaming we will be able to achieve until we hook our brains up to computers or develop our brains to the point where we can communicate telepathically. I saw on the discovery channel that whales might possess this ability .
