      Falling Asleep

      Ah my first topic.

Over the past few nights ive been trying MILD to recall my dreams ive found it increasingly hard to fall asleep. For instance last night it took me 4 hours for going to bed to going to sleep, by which point i had stopped the MILD anyway. I tried searching the forum for similar topics but i couldnt see anything (might have just been bad search words). I was wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation and solved it? it could be that im concentrating to hard maybe. Anyway hope someone out there has some advice

EDIT: Something else. When I was doing the MILD thing last night my body suddenly felt really light, as if i was about to float away :S it was so strange i did a RC just to make sure i wasnt dreaming already. that happen to anyone?

      Re: Falling Asleep

Were you trying to MILD or WILD? I've tried doing a couple of techniques for long periods of time and the best advice I can give for that, if it's not working after a half hour or so just stop. There's nothing to be gained from losing sleep and it's just frustrating. Also, don't expect it to happen all at once. Give the technique at least a week befor you decide to ditch it and try something new. I won't claim to be an expert on induction techniques, but I do know that relaxing is a major part of it. I have a bad habit of thinking too much so I haven't been too successful with some of the techniqes.

Just don't give up and if it looks like something's really not working, try something else. I hope my advice was helpful.

MILD i think, where you repeat something like "I will completely remember my dreams on waking" while going to sleep. Thats MILD right?

Anyway I was alright last night, woke up after 4 different dreams and could remember 3. Just wish I knew what was different between last night and the other nights lol. Ill bare that in mind about stopping after half an hour, thanks for replying

My hats of to you grekster for actually trying a technique instead of herbs, drugs and anything else that has been mentioned to induce LDs.
Sleep cycles are hard to get a grasp on. Some nights you may have 5 or 6 dreams and then you may go a week and barely remember one. Why? I don't realy know. But my point is that every attempt will not produce dream activity. But keep tyring.

Well I don't know if this is just the power of suggestion at work, but I read this thread last night... and then reread the tutorial of MILD, and tried it as well. I found it very hard to fight the wandering of my mind... and also watched what seemed like little snippets of dreams go on, things that didn't make sense at all, like people shaking hands or saying one word.....

anyway... I was repeating to myself "I will wake after each dream period and remember my dreams" but found it increasingly difficult to repeat it after some time...... it was like witnessing my logic shut down, the words would rearrange themselves, I would have to think about them for a minute to get it right.

After this happened my whole body from the neck down got the sort of light feeling you are describing... but it was also kind of tingly, and I noticed my "vision" (my eyes were obviously closed) seemed to go black when it happened......
It didn't last long, I think because the feeling was so strange to me that I concentrated on it too hard...... but yes, it has happened to me grekster

Unfortunately, my first attempt at MILD didn't produce a lucid dream.... maybe tonights will

that thing you're talking about, how ur logic seems to "shut off", that happens to me too. i do MILD and i'll be saying whatever over and over, and i'll be saying it slower and slower, and i'll stumble on the words, and i'll start to forget what i'm saying, and my head goes crAZy... lol it's interesting. i dunno bout the tingly feelings, but the other thing happens to me. lol...
