      Hearing music

Has anyone ever heard music in their dream? And when you wake up do you still hear it in your head?
This happened to me today when I was taking a nap I heard this really sad song and when I woke up I still heard the song. Any responces?

Music is always a big part of my lucid dreams...like there is always a soundtrack. An intense song will start playing, and I can change the song if I think about it. It sounds exactly as if you were listening to it on the radio, it's really quite amazing.

      mmm Music

In my dreams (LDs and non-Lucids) music plays a big role. There's always something playing in the background. It's always playing softly (unless i'm in an action packed dream) but i can clearly hear it.

not anything out of the norm

umm. i never have just an ambient soundtrack.
but yeah music plays a big part of my dreams (probably cause it's a big part of my life) like.. guitar, in particular. But it's like people playing instruments in my dream are all crazy one-man bands. for example, in one dream i was playing my acoustic guitar, and distortion was coming out, i was tapping the drum part with my foot, breaking windows to the rhythm and singing along at the same time. and it's like everyone else in my dreams that plays an instruments can do the same thing..
so i'm thinking one-man-bands are one of my dream-signs. hehe.

I've had lots of dreams about music, and it always happens when I'm listening to music. Once I went to sleep listening to bob marley and the wailers, and had a dream about being someone else at one of my band's shows, watching us/them play the best punk song I've ever heard. As I woke up the song kind of morphed back to bob marley.

Playing guitar (or any other instrument) is really wierd in dreams. You feel like you have infinite knowledge of music. I remember a dream from a few months back, where I was in this small party environment, jamming with some friends on the kitchen floor. I started playing this choking victim song called "crack rock steady" and sang the actual words of the chorus, and then I tried a verse. I remembered all the lines I can remember when I'm awake, and during the lines that I don't know, I freestyled some lyrics. I found it interesting that I could remember specific lyrics from a specific song in my dream, and even more interesting that I could freestyle without losing rhythm, which is something I can't do in waking life.

One thing I suggest to try in a lucid dream is playing a hand drum. You'll be amazed by your sense of rhythm when your sleeping.

Yeah! exactly! there's gotta be a way to get your dream abilities, and knowledge out into your waking life.. that'd be indcredible.

i think the only times i hear music in my dreams, is when it filters in from the outside. it's usually pretty loud, and it sounds like it's coming from everywhere at once.

music is huge part of my life... i just don't dream about it i guess. =-/

Most of my dream music also filters from the outside. I remember two specific incidents. One was when I fell asleep and a tv was on so I heard it in my dream and when I woke up it was on and it was the same as my dream. Another dream, music filtered from the radio and people in my dream were actually moving to it. (It was the funniest thing...) When I woke up that song was on the radio.

I used to sleep in the same room as my sister (for 12 years) and she liked to sleep with the radio on. My first flying dream (non-LD) came about this way when (I assume) the song "I believe I can fly" came on the radio and after I had swum in this scummy pool I found I had the ability to fly and flew around along with the song. It was awesome, but when I look back at it it was also quite funny. Another dream consisted of a song that I'd put on repeat before I went to bed and in the dream I was singing it along with another person in front of a crowd. Yah, those were cool dreams.

Does your subconscious come up with its own music or is it mostly outside stimulus?

The most beautiful, vivid music I've ever heard was during lucid dreams. It's even better when I sing myself - it's like a spiritual motion.

I have music in my dreams/LDs occasionally... but most of the time the music is Orchestra music. I don't know why, I guess it can get emotion across better, and it seems more movie like.

I recently had a dream that I was playing a beautiful melody on the piano, but when I woke up I couldn't remember the tune or the notes i played. It bugged for a while because at the time I did not recognize it, which made me think that I had come up with it.

Strangely, I can never remember music from my dreams. Sometimes I can remember a voice, but that's pretty much all the sound that I can recall. Once I can remember writing my own song, but that's just it - it was in writing! I had written down some a chord progression on a piece of paper.

A mate of mine wrote a song in his dreams for guitar. It even had a vocal part without words, just singing. He can play it as well, it's really good.

Wow now I can't wait to tap into my dream creativity.

2 nights ago i had my 2nd LD and as soon as i became lucid my voice became an instrument of the heavens echoing across existence!
I have also had intense musical dreams where i am creatingthe sounds, but im not playing them or conducting them but I AM the music!

this is probally the most motivating reason for lucid dreaming for me: writing sub-concious music

Anyone had something like this before?

I was dreaming (something about going back in time) when the scene changed and i heard this loud music, i knew the song (Ashes by Embrace) but the weird thing was the band were there with me and i was telling them what an ace song it was.
Shortly after I woke up. Later that day my sister got back from work and i asked what time she had started and she said 09:00, i asked if she was still in the house around 08:00 and she said 'yeah i was getting ready for work' and i said did you play Ashes by Embrace and she said Yeah.

Thats not the only time, once the same band's song were in my dream, two different songs one after the other (this time the dream stayed the same, just the music in the background) When i eventully got up a while after my dream, i found my sister downstairs watching TV (she gets up hours before me) and I said were you listening to Embrace before and she said yes i was getting up. Then i said the two songs in that order and she was like 'yeah how do you know'!!!!!!!!!
