      Hi There

Hey guys I am new to this forums and I have joined today in interest of Lucid Dreaming...

I have researched Lucid Dreams for a while now and I am doing reality checks regularly I know some things to look out for in a dream to help to become Lucid, Mirror, Sign names/any type of name etc. Last night i dreamt of all those things I also punched something and didnt feel the pain but it still couldn't become a Lucid dream...

I need help to know what to do to have a Lucid dream after doing one of these things, I also thought it was weird that I dreamt of looking into a mirror, punching something, reading a box name, and I also had a drink and didn't taste it all in the one dream.

      Thanks in advanced

Welcome Usually we see things in our dreams that get our attenting / impress us during the day. Doing only Reality checks doesn't help a lot. Of course, if you do them often you will eventually get a DILD (dream induced LD), but it will take a while. Not reckoning it is a dream is usual, especially when someone is beginner in LDs, so don't worry, sooner or later you might grasp those chances. Also I doubt that just seeing sign names or mirrors trigers LDs. However, you can use these to do a RC. I constantly see letters in my dreams, but never triggered me passively into a LD.

I think, firstly you should start writing a Dream Journal and keep doing RCs. Keep in mind that when you do your RCs dont do them passively, that's really important. Through your dream journal spot your dream signs. I suggest you not only stay @ RCs but try WBTB + MILD. For more read the guide and there are plenty of tutorials for WBTB , MILD and other techniques. What to do with your dream signs check the guide again.

Thanks for replying I have atempted to do a MILD once but my mouth would either dry up or i would get an itch or be in an uncomftorble position etc. oh and i did this on a day off and i set my alarm for about 5 hours after i would of fallen asleep...

One more thing... I don't get how some people can see something weird in there dream and think "Thats not right" and then relize there dreaming when there logic center in there brain is off and everything seems normal no matter how weird it is?

I will advantally understand everything but untill then im gathering info.

      Thanks for the help

Hey Dylan, I'm new here myself, nice to meet ya!!

It sounds like at least you're thinking about lucidity enough that the things you're thinking about show up in your dreams... that's actually a great start! It takes some time... don't try to force it... if you try too hard it won't happen. Just keep reading up on it... keep a dream journal and mark down your dream signs, and keep doing those reality checks (see, I'm so new I still write out the words!)

haha nice to meet you to Darkmatters

I did think it was weird this dream i had last night and i couldnt remember all of it because it seemed to go on for a while so it took me all of today to write it down and i still feel like im missing some of it.

I was thinking about the things i saw/did in my dream throughout that day hoping they would apear in my dreams (wasn't expecting them all in the same dream ). So im going to attempt another MILD in the morning and hope it turns out good and i have my first LD... Do you know anything i can do to stop the mouth from drying up?

Any tips would be greatly apreciated!

Hmmm... I don't know... sleep with your mouth closed? I actually had the same problem recently trying to fall back asleep. Do you sleep on your back? That can be a problem... can cause sleep paralysis. Most people seem to prefer sleeping on their side. I have a hard time falling asleep on my back.

Well when i tried the MILD i was trying it on my back but i normally sleep on my side When i try my MILD in the morning i will make sure i do it on my side... I also read that if u wake up after about 5 hours sleep early in the morning you should do something else for about 20-60 mins and then try your MILD... Is this a good idea?

Probably... I don't know I usually just hit the bathroom and then get right back in bed. One of these days I need to try staying up for a while.

But yeah, when my mouth dries out it's always if I'm lying on my back.

That is the main concept of WBTB. In those minutes you do something LD related. You can read your dream journal, do some RCs, browse Lucid dreaming related sites. Then you go for another tech, like MILD. Personally, I've had LDs by just WBTB. Read some tutorials about WBTB in this site. I think lucid83 has a very nice summary of WBTB techs.

"Do you know anything i can do to stop the mouth from drying up?" What exactly do you mean? Why does your mouth dry up?

"I don't get how some people can see something weird in there dream and think "Thats not right" and then relize there dreaming when there logic center in there brain is off and everything seems normal no matter how weird it is?"

Hehe, yes it sounds weird, but it happens. If you do a RC in your dreams (out of habit, not actual control), you look for instance at a word and you look back again; you already expect nothing to change because you think it is waking life, but surprisingly it changes. That gives you a small shock and you instantly say "im dreaming!". You will probably try it again to be sure and now you are sure it is a dream.

I want also to add something, I don't know why the text RC is so popular. Personally, I have had good results with it, but sometimes it wouldnt give me much of a shock to make me lucid, or the letters would be too blur to make me lucid (excuse for staying not lucid).

I try RCs that involve my body in it (I believe they shock you a lot more than just seeing letters change), trying to breath throught my closed nose gave me very good results, but it is not easy to RC that in daily life without people noticing, so lately I try the combo of : counting / looking my fingers and trying to stab my palm with my index finger (of the other hand ofc ) which has given me results + the guarantee that I will not get a false negative.

      Hope I helped

      Yer you did help

Before i say anything else i want to say that last night i tried a MILD as i fell asleep and something weird happened....
I layed perfectly still and everything and had my mind on going Lucid (i think i did fall asleep for about 2 mins but then woke up, still had eyes closed and continued) and then a while later i did start to see some things (little things) moving around behind closed eyes, and i was getting realy excited as it became more real like and i relized my eyes where slowly opening... lol?
Then by the time i relized, my heart was raceing and i was breathing realy fast, i think i was going Lucid for a while and then i was getting so excited that my eyes slowly opened, and then when i started to move to check the time i felt all... weird... like sort of dizzy i suppose you could say and then i saw the time and 30-40 mins had passed and it only seemed like 10-15!

Does this sound normal for a MILD?

Ok and for your last post do you mean i need to shock myself into going Lucid? So would it be a good idea to read something in real life and then look away and look back to see if its changed? just so i can get used to doing it, and for my RC i normaly look at my hands and think "am i dreaming" and then try to push my hand through something solid (wall or table, whatevers closer), sometimes even pinch myself or try to add simple numbers together.

But once again, if i looked at a word and then looked back at it and it changed i wouldn't care would i? Because i would just think its normal like any other weird thing in a dream i could say "im dreaming" to but choose not to.

      Thanks for the help

It sounds like you started to do it but got too excited and woke up. Did you do an RC right away to make sure it wasn't a false awakening? Always remember to do that. Keep it up, it sounds like you're getting really close. Just need to be able to relax more and not get so excited.

Today I woke up 2 hours before i had to get up for work and decided to stay up for a while rather than right back to bed like I usually do. I spent a half hour writing about my dream, went back to bed, thought of some more I needed to write about the dream, then couldn't get back to sleep. I ought to save that technique for my days off when I can sleep as much as I want!

No lucidity, but I had an incredible dream, and it was filled with things I've been thinking about lately, wanting to dream about. This has been happening every day lately... I think I'm getting really close. It's funny though... each of my dreams lately are ridiculously loaded down with dreamsigns, and I never realize I'm dreaming!!

Anyway Dylan, I think we're both getting really close...

Well thats what i thought, i did get realy excited and its hard not to because i have never had an LD before and no i didn't do an RC right away to make sure it wassn't a false awakening for i have never had one before and i just forgot to, but i did check the time and i could read that fine... i also have a snake in my room that needs light to heat up so i do have that flickering on and off every now and then wich is a distraction, i believe i would be able to consentrate better if i wasn't for that.

And yes we are both getting closer and closer each day as we get more experienced and learn new techs yes you should try to do the WBTB tech on your days off when you can have all the time in the world. Plus it would be better to have all the time in the world incase you do have a LD then it can last even longer and there wont be any alarms

Same with my dream the other night i was loaded with signs but i just couldn't tell it apart from real life!

      Oh well practise makes perfect.
