      My WILD findings

Ok well each night for about the last 3-4 days i have been trying a WILD at night before i go to sleep instead of with the WBTB tech. I lay down in a comfortable position for about 45 mins. My body begins to feel numb, then sometimes my heart rate goes up and my eyes start to move very quickly like they would normally in a REM sleep but in short intervals. I also become realy hot and feel like I need to stop and get up or something. This has only happened the last 2 or 3 nights of attempting and the nights i feel I'm getting closer i seem to get hotter, and when i fail and i get up I feel that i was sweating alot.

Is this what normally happens in a WILD or is this because i am doing it wrong?

Before you go to sleep for the night isn't the best time to try to WILD. The best dreams happen in REM sleep, which typically only occurs once you've been asleep for a few hours already. It's recommended that you schedule a WILD attempt in order to take advantage of the REM cycle.

I don't think what you're trying is impossible, but it's unlikely to work.

Well, I have, technically. I spent a long time in lucid deep relaxation and my body was asleep but my mind was aware. I found it only to work when I don't actually have the goal to WILD but my goal is to pass the night in lucid sleep/relaxation.

The technique I use to get my body to relax that much and my mind to stay that awake is I slow down my breathing so much. I also decrease the amount of air I breathe with each breath. So basically I am just hovering between a very tiny wave of barely breathing. I also let my breath stay out as long as possible and when I feel I need to inhale again, I wait another moment or two before I do inhale, and I only inhale less than I think I need to.

With this method I can actually feel my body going to sleep. Focusing on the breath like this also keeps my mind occupied, alert and one-pointed so that it doesn't fall asleep. The barely breathing relaxes both body and mind.

I like to think that it simulates death. But in order to go into REM with this method you have to practice a lot and be very patient. You need to keep your mind on a threshold line between too alert and too drowsy.

I think i understand. Im gonna try it and see how it goes a couple times. Im confident though, if as you say, it works, then i know i can do it. If your not a pro, the best thing to do is think like one lol
