Problem with opening eyes in lucids and waking up

Seems like the way a fair number of my lucid dreams end is if I happen to close my eyes in the dream, I can't seem to open them without opening my real eyes and waking up. I used to have lucid dreams when I was a kid and I would always close and open my eyes to wake myself up, but now it is screwing with me, I can't close my eyes without waking myself up. Any ideas about this? "don't close your eyes" is the most obvious answer, but that's not exactly an easy task to do without thinking about it constantly.
I think next lucid I have where I close my eyes I will try opening them gently with my fingers instead of using my eyelid muscles, any other suggestions are appreciated.

      Hunh...interesting case...
My first suggestion would be autosuggestion; devise a mantra and use it throughout the day. It really is a very powerful tool, silly though it may be. Failing that, in your lucid, you could superglue your eyes open, perhaps...

I'm not entirely sure how to go about this one, to be honest...good luck all the same. Wish I could be of more help.

      Don't close your eyes.

Don't close your eyes in any dream unless you want to wake up, or get out of that particular dream. Remaining focused on dream stuff is the most important thing for staying in the dream, and you can't do that with your eyes closed.

If you want to stay in the dream, never close your eyes. Never never never.

^I'm sorry, but that's horrible advice. If you want to be able to close your eyes, you have to STABILIZE STABILIZE STABILIZE. That means make the dream as vivid as you possibly can. If you feel like it's real, you won't be able to wake up even if you wanted to!
