Well, I don't think that your journey into LDing should suffer becuase of your real life trama. I would, personally, do the opposite. And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying escapism, or disconnecting--What I mean by this is this: Lucid dreams can be used to sooth your soul (so to speak). By tapping into your inner-self, or ego--you can settle issues that plague you deeply, by working out your feelings within the LD. To truely do this is called (High Lucidity), and is only truely accesible to Gurus, Masters, Buddist Monk--meaning, it's very difficult to reach High Lucidity. It's sort of like reaching absolute meditation, or OBE/Astral Projection. Lucid dreaming is hard enough, but High Lucidity is for the masters--it is the place to heal the deepest part of your soul. (Wow, I sound corney, but these are the things I've learned in my research--and totally believe).

Anyhow. I wouldn't shun LDing because of your difficult life. Use your LD to think positively by putting yourself in a safe, soothing environment.

I can tell you these things from experience. THe last 6 years I've been dealing with bad relationships, and this year my father passed away. So, I've been bordering on anxiety attacks and such--but my dream life still thrives, which is very healthy.
