LD's as compared to real life.

Hello everyone, time for a philisophical discussion.

I'v recently gone through an extremely depressing, exausting, insane part of my life, and no, I'm not discussing it, but after everything settled down, or so far it has, I looked at my Lucid Dreams, and my real life.

And I really really looked, I thought about everything, In an LD, there are no consequences, anything and everything is possible. In real life, there are consequences, not everything is completely possible, but...it's Real.

No matter how realistic a LD is, you cannot compare it to your own life, and don't get me wrong, I love LD's, but after this "experience" in my life, I really saw how important, your real life really is.

So, I'm cutting back on the LD's for a little while, since I'm still dealing with this "experience", and I'm really going to try and make my Actual Life, better then it really is.

So really, take a look at your real life, no matter how bad it is or seems, and think about it.

See for what it really, really is.

Reality, when it goes well is more fulfilling than a Lucid dream. However, reality seldom goes that well and it is nice to escape to the world of lucid dreams

Very true, however, if the person themself is messed up by the real world, that can lead to having even your dream worlds against you. Which isn't fun.

This sort of goes back to the whole "vanilla sky" thing...where once he finds out that he is just having a sort of lucid dream he would rather wake up and live in reality, than in some dream world that he thinks is reality. I love my lucids...they are precious to me...they are an amazing part of living...but they will never be truly real and therefore I would always pick the real world over that anyday.

Of course when I learning to fly and to manipulate the fabric of space and time while awake would be cool as well

The link, between the two is...

In reality, can you fly whenever you want? No.

In a LD can you? Yes.

In reality, can you simply "zap" things to make them better? No.

In a LD can you? Yes.

In Reality, does your life continue, being realistic, being real, being "solid" till the day you die? Yes.

In a LD, does it? No.

In a LD, you can do whatever to whomever whenever, but it wont last, it will stop, it's like a roller coaster ride, it's great, it's thrilling, stimulating, fun...but it's going to stop at some point, and you're going to have to wait at the back of the line again.

In Real Life, it dosn't stop, it will always keep going, and if you really really try, you can make it similar to a never-ending Lucid Dream.

But really, DON'T get me wrong, I love Lucid's. I'm just sharing my thoughts.

Well, I don't think that your journey into LDing should suffer becuase of your real life trama. I would, personally, do the opposite. And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying escapism, or disconnecting--What I mean by this is this: Lucid dreams can be used to sooth your soul (so to speak). By tapping into your inner-self, or ego--you can settle issues that plague you deeply, by working out your feelings within the LD. To truely do this is called (High Lucidity), and is only truely accesible to Gurus, Masters, Buddist Monk--meaning, it's very difficult to reach High Lucidity. It's sort of like reaching absolute meditation, or OBE/Astral Projection. Lucid dreaming is hard enough, but High Lucidity is for the masters--it is the place to heal the deepest part of your soul. (Wow, I sound corney, but these are the things I've learned in my research--and totally believe).

Anyhow. I wouldn't shun LDing because of your difficult life. Use your LD to think positively by putting yourself in a safe, soothing environment.

I can tell you these things from experience. THe last 6 years I've been dealing with bad relationships, and this year my father passed away. So, I've been bordering on anxiety attacks and such--but my dream life still thrives, which is very healthy.

Lucid dreaming is a such a release. I know it's not real. I know it's just living a fantasy. That simple fact always ruined my dreams when I was younger before I knew of lucid dreaming. I understand what you mean, but now I have to disagree. Dreaming is like another life. While we are not lucid dreaming we are in a mindless stupor. Lucid dreams allow us to live out our greatest fantasies, things we could never do. For me it is a way to ease my longing to do and have the things I don't now. It helps with the tremendous longing I get to have a boyfriend, someone to love me for who I am. I realize it is not real, but the experience is incredible. Lucid dreams make my day. For others lucid dreams stop nightmares or to practice things. When bad things are happening to me, I cling to my lucid dreams. The simple joy of living the life I could never live is wonderful. By lucid dreaming I also figure things out about myself. I learn from my dream guide and the strange but wise things my dream characters sometimes say. I know it can be discouraging to think it is not real, but wouldn't you rather experience them anyway? In a way it can be a motivator for some things that we are able to do in real life. The feeling of victory and joy can be carried into real life, driven by how it felt. Do not give up on your dreams, lucid or otherwise. Let them be your light on a dark day, a happiness you can rely on.
Dreaming permits each and every one of us to be quietly and safely insane every night of our lives.

I have had several Issues in my life that brought me much trouble and pain. Through Lucid dreaming I have confronted some of those issues and gained confindence from them.
But if it is not real then whats the point?
Well the fact is although not tangibly real in your subconcious (the back of your mind) and to your brain these issues wether how you percieve real or not, need to be addresses. If you can do it by way of Lucid dreaming then why cut it out of your life?

We are all in The 3D plane for a reason. We all have access to the Lucid Dreaming world for a reason. Things have been this way for Thousands of years. Even the Mayans/Aztecs had access to Lucid dreams and carried the secrets to really being able to accomplish anything in a lucid Dream. I have been able in a lucid dream to just be in white and be able to control anything, full consciousness thinking what should I do? You can contemplate anything and control your dreams from that white slate. You create any situation in your life. I have tried interviews in my dreams. I have worked out in dreams. I have flown till the Earth looks like a pea...and when its like in Apollo 13. I have been in the clouds and even had sex in them. I feel that lucid dreaming can be a strong tool to your life...I mean your sleeping 6-8 hours a day 9If your lucky when your busting your ass) and some sleep longer. What else would you possibly do when you sleep? Id there any other more logical thing to do than LD while your sleeping? Did I hear someone say focus on snoring? ..lol..... LDing is an amazing tool...train yourself and 3D will be great! PS...Somewhere else I posted about having OOBE's without bringing yourself out of the dream (besides jumping off of cliffs and shit like that) Simply in the dream pretend to charge up like a Supersain (only seen some episodes of DBZ) and do it while making yourself float...you will be feeling very uncomfortable especially in your Sternum...you will even get a bit nautious...but keep going (by this time you will be high in the air) and everything will than stop and you will fade to black...in a few seconds youshould not wake up in real body but find yourself somewhere in the real world on a different plane. You will be OOB. You will be Experiencing an OOBE. To amaze yourself say something out loud. How does your voice sound? It feels awkward when your speaking. It will sound like a alien voice...completely weird...freaky and high pitched (to the point where you cant understand yourself) but you know what you are saying in your head...Totaly Wicked.

The thing is every time I lucid dream I wind up just doing something completely other than OOBE... I know how to do it, but I would rather just play along sometimes...does that fall under the certain levels of consciousness b/c I am ussually always in my dream as if I am sitting here typing to you guys in real llife but just do nothing about.

PSS I am happy I joined this place
I hope Freddy Kruger comes into my dreams one day so I can Fuck him up bad!

      That all sounds great guys.

It's OBE, you don't need the double-O. A part of me, which I am still experiementing with is the relationship between OBEs and LD. In fact, I have a haunting feeling that the two are very close, if not the same thing--meaning, the realm you go in when in an OBE is the same realm one goes in a LD. I'm not sure, but I really feel the tie between OBEs and LD is a close one; they are parallels.

I read over your experiment in your post about OBEs several times, but I don't quite get what you are saying to do. Sorry.
