Not really. Lucid nightmares mostly occur when your aware your dreaming, but not in control. So some guy could be holding you down on a table and stab you with a knife while your aware your in a dream, but can't do anything about it.

Some guy is holding you down on a table and stabs you with a knife. What are you afraid of? The pain? Not being in control?

you may be feeling the pain, and he could look scary and realistic, and you can't do anything about it.

I had a Lucid Nightmare once. I had full control over my thoughts.

I was in my bedroom, and something invisible was throwing me around the room, smashing me into walls, and I could feel the pain. I felt so helpless, because I thought I should have control over the dream, but it was still happening.

I could still control the movements of my body. But I couldn't control the thing that was flying me around the room.

The main part of my total fear, wasn't really the pain, it was just the fact that I felt so helpless, it was as if it was happening in real life.

So, that was quite a relatively high level of control I had. I was actually able to control my body movements. So lucid nightmares aren't always really low level control.

I dreamed of waking up only to find myself being held down by a monster, shadow fiend, or whatever 3 times now. One time I became lucid, calmed down, and just waited. The monster went away and I continued the dream.
