Changing your physical form when lucid

Hey all, I've been lurking (without an account) for some time now. Early this morning I achieved two back-to-back WILDs and it was wonderful! In one of the dreams, I was having trouble flying (as a human) and so I elected to change myself into a cardinal--the bird, not the religious figure. For whatever reason, this made flying way easier and took the edge off, letting me stay asleep. I was just wondering if anyone else has experimented with changing themselves, and if there are any especially fun ones to try out.

And, more importantly, I'd like to thank everyone for all the helpful tutorials and tips I've read in the past few weeks!

I haven't experimented with purposely changing my physical appearance so much... I think I may have a few times and didn't think anything of it, certainly nothing as drastic such as morphing into a bird.

Usually in my dreams my hair color is always different. Sometimes I'll have long blonde hair, sometimes long blue hair, a mohawk, etc. It always seems very normal though, even when I'm lucid.

I have shape shifted quite often though not consciously. I have to set up intense desire and meditation on what form i want to take, then it happens somtime latter. This is a good sign that you can shapeshift.

Thanks, both of you! Cacophony--I can totally see where you wouldn't even bother changing your own form when you have a whole world at your disposal. I really don't know why I tried it.

Kulananda--when I tried to take this form, all I did was close my eyes and spin (my best bet in general for scenery change) and told myself I'd open my eyes as a bird. My subconscious assigned the specific bird and the environment. I'll see what effects a more meditative and thorough approach has. Thanks!
