      University Course About Lucid Dreaming

Hey everyone, I'm part of a group of students trying to create a course on lucid dreaming at my university. We're collaborating to create a syllabus, and we need lots of good reasonably scientific source material to get the course ok'd.

I'm definitely going to try to get the class to use dreamviews as a resource and an online meeting place. We could already use the help of experienced LDers such as yourselves, though. I've included the syllabus so far here (I know it's kind of huge, sorry) and I'm curious if anyone might have interesting sources we could incorporate, or ideas for topics we should focus on. Most helpful would be solid scientific material about lucid dreaming. I'm really excited about this, thanks in advance for taking a look!

      Spoiler for Syllabus (so far):

I'm not sure if you are aware of the phrase "Mickey Mouse Degree" but this would be an absolute new low

Sounds like an interesting, well structured course, but amongst those not participating it would be ridiculed into the ground. lol

Hey thegnome! Welcome back. You should really check out the DVA - Dream Views Academy. It's new and at the moment still being organized but basically the goal is to teach people about lucid dreaming from more experienced dreamers, professors...who are using organized syllabus such as you have presented. Definitely check it out. We need more participation and professors and it might be something that you guys would really benefit from getting involved in.

It would really dependent on certain factors. If it were a small segment of a Psychology degree, then I don't think people would think much about it.

I agree to some extent in than I am worried about our ability to get enough actual material to fill a semester, given how little actual research there is on lucid dreaming. However, we will have access to EEG equipment and the prospect of designing and possibly carrying out some original research on lucid dreamers is pretty exciting to me.

Also, I think the idea of a GISP (which is what they call these student-created courses) is definitely legitimate. They're not going to count towards your major, but as long as you have a faculty mentor and a rigorous review process I think letting students with a shared passion educate themselves is awesome. In fact a long time ago a GISP including many students and faculty members actually rewrote the whole university's approach to its curriculum. We've had the 'new curriculum' ever since.
