      please help me out

ok im new here so bear with me. Of course, i have my dream journal, im doing my reality checks and i know my dream signs. I dont know what this technique as called but many of my friends have said this has worked for them. Wake up around 4:30, stay up for a while and then when you go back to bed, repeat the mantra "the next time that i am dreaming, i will realise that im dreaming." I did this last night and it just kept me up until i had to go to school They say that after twenty minutes or so, you just drift off with the phrase still repeating but that wasnt the case here. It just kept me up. Is there something im doing wrong? any better techniques you guys have for me? thanks in advance

That' a WBTB MILD(Wake back to bed-Mnemonic Induced Lucid Dream). I normally repeat my mantra until I can tell I'm getting close to sleep; then I stop and drift off. The main thing is to have Lucid Dreaming be the very last thing you think of before you go back to sleep. If you start thinking about something else, repeat your mantra a few more times and then try to drift off. How are you doing reality checks and how often? Are you actually looking around and questioning reality, or are you simply going through the motion and moving on? If you don't completely put your mind to it and actually question reality it won't be as effective.
